How to make a video ?

I bet its an idiot question, but for some reason I cant make a single video.
is that because of my gf2 ??
if not, what are the steps ? coz celestia likes to stand still (maybe crashed) and does not proceed after choosing save video.. :D

There is currently no support under Linux to produce a video.

That could probably be implemented easily using FFmpeg for example.

But if you are using W2K it should work.

My experience is to try a few differed compression formats and first on the lowest resolution. Some work but others just won't.

I found out that if you install DivX you can use that compression.

But every compression method has a few settings and I noticed that these also can make a difference.

And if you have plenty of disk space use no compression.

hmm, well I managed to make a video under win2k, but after reading the manual (that u have to download it seperately of the software), the nice bug was that after choosing save movie as, then clicking on save, according to manual there should be a window telling if it is OK and to click on ok, unfotunately there isn't such a window, just a thin line at the left, and I had to press enter blindly to proceed on to the next step (choose the area with red borders) ...and so on
about compression don't worryWheelie I know almost everything about it (video & audio) thanks to:

That just a thin line at the left should be a square in the centre of your screen, and as I recall there should be text on the edges. But I don't know the text F11 for start and F12 for ready or something like that.

But that line..... try to set your screen to the highest resolution and use the smallest video size than you should get a small rectangle with these texts above it. But if you use a 640 resolution and a 640 movie window there wil be no line and no text !

And you are not over-tweaking your GF2 graphics card ? Is there smoke coming out of your PC

I know from my own tweak experience that there is one setting for malformed text, the ATI software I use calls it alternate pixel centre and this can cause problems with some games/util's.

And do you have the latest :
Celestia
DirectX 9
GF2
drivers ?

Good luck

neither of the users knew the problem !!
I dont have problems with the red rectangle, it appears after clicking blindly ENTER after a very vertically thin window appears (after clicking save as)
according to manual :
http://www.celestiaproject.net/celestia/docs/u ... e-1.1a.pdf

Code: Select all

Click “SAVE” Another menu will appear, asking if you wish to save the file compressed or uncompressed.

see !! :D
well I have celestia 1.3.0,detonator 4345, DX9, and a well cooled GPU !
