inside the planets
Recently I've been asking myself a lot, is it possible to have mountains in the celestial? For example: don't look like it's "flat", you know? So I got this in my head, is it possible? I think the celestia would be very beautiful, imagine the images.

As far as I know, it is possible to model locations on planets and moons for 3D visualization, such as mountains, volcanoes or craters. Below, I leave the links of addons that show some volcanoes and craters of Mars in 3D. It really is a very interesting sight.

Thanks, I didn't know this was possible
Added after 1 hour 32 minutes:
right now I'm modifying the mars craters to put on the moon (I'm just changing the textures, because I use it on mobile and it doesn't have these cmod model tools hahaha). when it's ready can i post it?

we have created 3d meshes out of bump maps before, which makes the surfaces of the planets look 3d, but it isnt perfect and SE still beats Celestia in that regard. i imagine it could be possible to have a sort of "VT Mesh", basically a mesh that is really high poly, but only the parts Celestia needs to display are rendered, just like VTs, which could increase performance. it would have to be only rendered on the surface, since it would turn your computer into an O-type star if you zoomed out. i dont see it being implemented any time soon though, it will probably take up to at least Celestia 2.0, or 1.10 or whatever they decide to call it, for it to happen

Celestia 2.0 most likely since 1.10 is one of the very early version of the program.

sorry, i should have probably clarified what i meant. i meant "one point ten (1.10)" not "one point one point zero (1.1.0) / one point one (1.1)", similar to how minecraft named their updates after 1.9 (1.10, 1.11, 1.12 etc)Anthony_B_Russo10 wrote:since 1.10 is one of the very early version of the program

Ah, it's just that Celestia versions prior to he 1.2.x versions have funky numbering (i.e. 1.00, 1.01, 1.02, 1.03, 1.04, 1.05, 1.06, 1.07, and 1.08) as opposed to being called 1.0.1 for example. When the version number changed to its current format I don't know due to multitudes of missing versions of the program.

Could there be a rendering system in Celestia? (when approaching an object, show it and objects that are within a scale that only shows if you are inside) Would it run well on Celestia? Or does it already exist? Or if this would make Celestia lighter? I think with that, you'd be able to see inside the planets, and when you moved away he'd be kind of deleted, you know?
Added after 3 minutes 12 seconds:
I'm creating a fictional system, at the moment 2 planets 1 moon and 3 comets, I don't intend to do more than that, but only time will tell

Yes, the models and textures of ssc objects aren't loaded until the user is close enough to see them, but that doesn't help reduce file size.
