It probably isn't. Actually, I think (or am sure) those addon creators who have addons uploaded to the motherlode also have other addons not posted there but rather on other sites.

Important update 10/26/2019:
I went to the motherlode today and Chrome came up with "Your connection to this site is not secure." This may be used as proof for the motherlode's (eventual) fall.

It works for me, but the Motherlode has never been secure (HTTPS), it has always been HTTP. The main ibiblio.org website is HTTPS though.

celestia.space is now hidden behind CloudFlare. Perhaps the same should be done to the motherlode too.

The point of CloudFlare is to protect the site from DDoS attacks, which haven't happened to the Motherlode. But the Motherlode, and Celestial Matters, should have a secure (HTTPS) connection.
