rendering questions

i have some questions about the options in the Render menu.

what is "antialiasing"?? i mean, whats the diference between activating or not that option?

what is "use pixel shaders"? the same question as above

and whats the differences between the different types of "vertex shadders"?

The Antialiasing option in the Render menu, when on, makes orbit and constellation lines etc., smoother. The Pixel and Vertex shaders only work on Geforce cards and enable bumpmapping and specular reflection effects. With only one of them on you get strange effects, so you should have both on.

Before you go on asking people to write the same things over and over again, why don't you have a look at the detailed and very pedagogical Celestia /manual/ that has been specially written for Celestia-beginners like yourself...

You find the link at http://www.shatters.net. It exists in HTML format or as *.doc file for download as well as in some other formats that probably won't interest you.

What t00fri is trying to say is that before you waste everyones time do an extensive search of the forum first. Do you have any idea how many times the same questions have been posted over and over again. Its to the point that Chris can't even keep up with it all to clean out the mess and keep everything organized. I am surprised that he just hasn't dumped a bunch of stuff and started out with all fresh info. So please in the future just do a good search first. Than if you can't find what you are looking for, than as a last resort start a new thread in the forum. Don't make a new tread the first thing you do. All it does is add to the problem.
I don't want to sound criticle but EVERYONE needs to do this. I have even done this in the past and I got the same scolding. Thats why we have a search engine in the forum in the first place.
