That's great Don, I love what you've done to the water, shallow water in particular. I recognise some of the coast lines! Rivers look nice too.

I much like it.Milosz21 wrote:New screens of fictional Avatar system, I changed some things on gas giant to make planet looks much better, especially the big blue cyclone. Planet is brighter and have whole colors what you all saw in movie. I guess my job is finished, but all feedback are welcome.
I hope all Celestians like it
Re: Post your Celestia pictures!
Ok it's my turn to try the Avatar system. Here is my first attempt.
The Pandora land textures were randomly made with lunacell. Polyphemus is a much altered Jupiter texture. I haven't added other moons yet.

I try again.
Re: Post your Celestia pictures!
Nice work Reiko! Keep it up. Do you use Photoshop CS2, like I? If yes there, is great toy in program to make maelstrom in the atmosphere. Go to filters then deformation, rest is easy to figure out how to use. I told you this because I use this toy to make blue cyclone on Polyphemus and is simply amazing. This toy will really help you make your blue cyclone looks better.

I have already made Ulrich aware of your concerns, and HE will make the final
determination.
You know, it could also have been MY fault, so you may wish to refrain from
accusing someone of stealing your screen shots. In other words, *I* could
have simply posted the screen shots to the wrong add-on. Dunno if this
actually happened or not, but it is possible. Sorry about that, Bob

Miloz?
This *was* my fault, and I apologize. I simply got the two add-ons mixed up.
I have repaired the error, so please have a look and see if all meets with
your satisfaction now.
Again, very sorry, but all should be well now.
Thanks, Brain-Dead

I understand everything. I forgive you, it goes without saying that we are people, not robots, and like people, we do mistakes. Sorry for my words too….about stealing.

Re: Post your Celestia pictures!
I got some strange comments about my Avatar system from people and I want to answer here because I can't add my answer in the add-on site.
2° Increase time, you will see something And I don’t see a lots of ice, only big mountains, do you hear about level of endless snow?
3° Replace me on my exams and will sure you that I do more planets.
1° Because this is fictional star And I like that way to make my systems.#1 J.T.K. Good job but :
1° Why didn't you take real star ?
At 20 LY, you have TYC 1444-1639-1, a G1V with 1.3 RSun and 1.80 L Sun.
2° Pandore is too hot (279 °K) and its texture has a lot of ice !
3° The avatar system has only one planet, You can do better for this.

Sorry I'm not gamer like you, and please don't scream on me kid. If you don't like my hard job do this better I can help you if you want but unfortunately I don't have many free time.Stranger:
It's wrong! in the files in the PC game Avatar was written that there are several planets. with names which are close by meanings to ours.
Thanks!!!
You shouldn't agree with them but you should read description of the add-on. I didn't say that system is a copy of movie, right? He is only based.#3 Douglas
Great quality textures, looks great! But i agree to J.T.K., and two more things: Polyphemus is more blue, is smaller than jupiter (you put it too big!) and pandora is a bit smaller than earth...
Alpha Centauri is system where planets are impossible.Anonymous
according to the game the Moon of Pandora orbits a planet in the Alpha Centauri A system. thats why it took the ship 5 years to get there (sublight velocity)

Re: Post your Celestia pictures!
Milosz21,
Actually the consensus is that there can be planets around the stars of the Centaurs system. Thy don't believe there would be any gas giants but terrestrials are a very strong possibility. They can't be ruled out until we know it for fact.
So while Cameron may not have got the facts right, there could in fact be an Earth like planet there just waiting to be found.
Don.

Re: Post your Celestia pictures!
Are you sure? I think I remember someone saying that Alpha Centauri planets may be too dry, because the high eccentricity and long distances of the stars prevents some, most, or all comets (or other water-bearing material) from getting into the inner part of the system.Don. Edwards wrote:Milosz21,

But then again, I don't know for sure.

Re: Post your Celestia pictures!
PlutonianEmpire,
Ok, let me rephrase that. Earth like meaning a terrestrial about the size of Earth, not necessarily exactly Earth like. The term Earth like is getting used to much as far as I am concerned. I think it may be time to start bringing in terms like those used here. http://www.onewest.net/~dollan/ARCpclindex.html
While we really have no idea what the conditions in the early Centaurus system were like, and whether it is a totally proven fact that all of Earths water came from comets, as it is chemically different in everything I have seen and read, if the early conditions on any of the planets was at all like it was in our own system, then we may find something similar to Earth. But personally I doubt we will find another Earth right next door. We simply could not get that lucky. Most likely we are going to find a more like Mars analog there, either hot and dry or cold and dry. Or a few Venusian worlds.
I personally think James Cameron didn't do enough research. He could have found many star systems that could of housed his system. Good old HD 28185 would have been a great candidate, just a bit far away at 120LY away. I think he was worried by all the recent talk about faster than light travel and it may or may not be possible at least through standard space. I am sure there are other factors in there as well.
Don.
