Open GL confusion

Does Celestia benefits from the new features of newer version of Open GLs?
I am saying that because the latest Nvidia driver supports Open GL 3.2,but my ECS GTS 250 ONLY SUPPORTS OPEN GL 2.1... :?
What about Open CL?Is Celestia going to use it?

Currently Celestia won't have much use for OpenGL 3.2 or OpenCL in the near future.
(the developers are working on other, also useful stuff)
Maybe in the future it will.

I would like to see OpenCL used for some calculations,
but we need drivers first and development tools.

De developers need to have access to test new things.

So expect Celestia using newer features and OpenCL as time goes by.
