magnitude limit
I was wondering, what is a 'normal' limit that you would see in space. I currently have mine set to 6.5 (for the poll, I think you need to have 1.2.5 to get magnitude decimals other than .0 and .5)

Activate "Automag" (CTRL+Y) and never worry about it anymore. You may adjust the magnitude limit at 45 degrees field of view in the startup script if you like.

I also talk about the magnitude limit, but dependent on the actual field of view. In Automag mode the maglimit at 45 degrees is a much less critical parameter though. That's why I mentioned Automag in this context.

yes, because 10.0 isnt an option in 1.2.5

If you use a script, you can set it to whatever you want.
where "m.m" is any number.
Code: Select all
setvisibilitylimit { magnitude m.m }

Mike,
As you should know by now, Chris is putting his efforts into advancing the code in Celestia. He's leaving it up to others to write the documentation, although he does post summaries of new commands here on the Forum.
That's one reason why I created my "cryptic notes page". http://www.lns.cornell.edu/~seb/celestia/celestia_notes.html
Every so often I go through some of the code on SourceForge to see if I can decipher some of the new commands. It's not always easy, since there aren't very many inline comments
It'd really be nice if the documentation authors could be persuaded to make their preliminary efforts available on SourceForge, too. I'm sure we'd all benefit from having more than one or two people working on the manuals.
