Personalizing Celestia

Post #1by SPACON08 » 01.02.2009, 14:36

Hi,

I would like to personalize Celestia by removing the existing spacecraft models and inserting my own, which I am currently building. I would like to create my own fleet of spacecraft orbiting the Earth.

How do I remove the existing models from Celestia? I've tried removing the model files from the "models" folder in the celestia director but this caused Celestia to behave abnormally. Do I also place my spacecraft model files into this same "models" folder?

Thks in advance.

Objects are defined in Celestia by the use of catalog files.
To remove objects, remove their catalog entries.

Spacecraft are defined in SSC (Solar System Catalog) files.
The spacecraft included with Celestia v1.5.1 for Windows are defined in /data/spacecraft.ssc
The Mac and Linux distributions include some additional spacecraft definitions in /extras/

The spacecraft included with Celestia v1.6 are defined in the catalogs in /extras-standard/

You can add your own spacecraft by creating their catalogs in /extras/
