how do I steer?

Post #1by ChristTrekker » 28.01.2003, 00:06

I've been trying to fly around some of the local planetary systems, but I don't understand why I keep drifting in directions I'm not trying to go. Maybe I am just not used to this - I don't play flight sims much anyway, and if have to work celestial mechanics in too... Anyway, any tips on how to pilot better?

you can press C to center it temporarily, but keep in mind that the planets/objects ARE moving. You would normally need to lock onto an object by pressing Y which will lock on to the object so you orbit the selected object at a rate synced to its rotation, or press F which will lock on relative to the light/darkside of the object

Those commands were not listed in controls.txt - no wonder I couldn't figure it out. Is there a comprehensive command list somewhere?[/i]

ChristTrekker,

Which version of Celestia are you using on what platform?

The commands Mike mentioned are included in the Navigation section of controls.txt of the version of Celestia that I'm using. (Celestia v1.2.5 on Windows).
