If i zoom a few Times into Earth, Moon, Mars it doesn't take 3 Minutes - my 2 GB RAM are full and it's going to use the Swapfile on Disk, working about 20 Seconds i can't do anything until i see the next made zoom Action.
I Know i nearly use the biggest Textures for Celestia that are available - on My Win XP 32bit, Core 2 Duo 6600, 2GB RAM, 8800 GTS but i think on my previous Machine with old V 1.4 it was not so much time but i'm not sure.
It seems Celetia stores the loaded Textures into RAM and there they remain even if i swap to an other Planet until the program exits? Is there a Way to clear the Textures out of RAM? Swapfile is too slow for so much Textures.
2 GB Ram full in less than 2 Minutes

Same here, I tried to simulate a high detailed Hubble Space Telescope flying over a VT-Earth (64K), but the swap file grew to >5 GB and the system was really slow. Memory usage dropped no earlier then when I quit Celestia.

That would be a good Feature, otherwise i need 8 gb RAM and a 64bit Sytem. Although Memory has lower Prices now, it makes Problems on my Board trying to use more than 3 Modules. And because of this that makes no sense for me....
