SevenSpheres is now an Admin/Mod/something

A while back, Chris Laurel, the original creator of Celestia, joined the Celestia Discord. Since Alexell is mostly inactive and there are many things on this forum that can be improved, many members have asked Chris to promote a new forum admin. Today he promoted me. Thing is, I don't seem to have full admin permissions, because I can't make my name red. I'm above a moderator but maybe not quite an admin.

Thanks to everyone who suggested me for the admin position!

So far I've only done one thing: removed the limit of 20 links per post.

Thanks, Vision!

I've enabled links in signatures and removed the length limit. This is useful for me, at least, since I want to link to my addons in my signature.

Anthony_B_Russo10 (already a Discord moderator) promoted to forum moderator by request.

Congratulations on the promotion, SevenSpheres!
You truly deserved it. Keep up the good work

Yes, your name appears in green but you probably have higher permissions.

This is great anyway, so congratulations! And I like green :smile:

pirogronian, by the way, one thing I still can't do - but I think you can - is adding the missing developers to that user group.

Also since you're a moderator, should I make your name green?

@SevenSpheres,

I believe that links in signatures were disabled as an attempt to minimize the impact of spammers. Some spammers make posts which look fine, but then update their signatures to contain advertising links. Most moderators never notice when that happens.

selden, do you know if there's a way to allow links in signatures only for members with a certain number of posts? I've re-disabled links in signatures for now...

Hm, I changed their ranks, but cannot change group. Technically I can, but listing contains only current group.

Hm, I feel more like developer, but I give You final decision. Is there possibility to set color to something between? :biggrin:
And would You want to have rank "admin"? Probably You already can do it yourself, but anyway... :wink:

I see you did, interesting...

pirogronian wrote:And would You want to have rank "admin"?

As I said, I can't set my rank to admin. Specifically, I can't edit the administrator or developer groups.

I think "rank" and "group" are technically independent. Rank is only visible as a text below nick, kind of "honorary title".

Edit: Just for test I set Your rank to "Forum Admin". You may check if it gives You extra privileges :smile:
Btw Your group is "global moderators". Probably rest of mods are in "usual" "moderstors".

@SevenSpheres,

I don't think PhpBB includes that feature.

I found a rather complex PhpBB3 MOD which seems to provide that and several related anti-spam features, but modifying the copy of PhpBB running the forum might not be appropriate.

I don't think it will, but I'll keep it there anyway.

And I very much doubt that I'd be able to do it anyway, since I don't seem to have all admin permissions. Links in signatures will remain disabled.

Posts in the "Physics and Astronomy" forum now show up in "Active Topics".

Thanks Seven, now the Physics and Astronomy posts won't get buried by just being suck in their subforum.
