Red planet around double star - help !

Post #1by jujuapapa » 17.08.2019, 06:38

Hi,

I created two planetary systems around a double star system.

Around first star (at left on picture and secondary in priority) all is OK.

But around second star (at left on picture and primary in priority) the texture of the planet is red !

Do you know why ?

Is it a bug of celestia ?

The double star is zeta reticuli system.

Thanks in advance.

Grey aliens - I knew it!

Seriously - please post your data files.
Still formally developer, but too tired to develop. I feel sad, but Celestia is going forward despite it.
Btw, the universe is ruled by electricity.

Celestia draws planets with a red coloration if "too many" shader scripts are involved. This can happen, for example, if a planet is defined to be orbiting a multi-star system so that multiple shadows have to be drawn on the planet's surface. One workaround is to disable some of the options in the Render / View Options menu, perhaps "Ring Shadows" and/or "Cloud Shadows".

Hi,

TY Selden for this explanation.

I cancelled the option "lights night' and the texture appeared... but a new problem also !
20190818 PB Planet3_System1.jpg

All the planet is in darkness at 360°...
All cancelled anothers options are without effect.

I have anothers planetary systems around anothers double star systems (e.g. 61 cyg, ...) and it's the first time that I detect this bug... :fie:
No update nextly for celestia 1.6.1 ?

As pirogronian suggested, please post your STC and SSC files. A Zip of your Zeta Reticuli folder probably would be best, including your texture files. With that information, someone might be able help improve what you're seeing.

People are working on Celestia v1.7, but it has its own problems.

The automatic, too many shader scripts color should be gray, rather than red.
