All the planets are white except Earth...

Hello...

I'm needing help with my copy of Celestia. When I bring it up, the Earth and the stars look as they should but the rest of the planets are just plain white, almost like golf ball without the indentations or bumps. Does anyone know how I can fix this? :?:

I'm running Kubuntu 10.04 (dual boot with Vista,) and Celestia (1.6.0) is being used with the KDE frontend. The copy installed on Vista works fine.

Thanks!

Regards...

Hi ardvark,

have you tried the following advie from the help documentation? http://shatters.net/forum/viewtopic.php?p=118146#p118146

11. Problem on Ubuntu: Why does Celestia not have textures?
Answer:
The version of Celestia supplied in the package manager or the Add/Remove programs menu is broken. Celestia's textures are included in the package celestia-common-nonfree which is not listed as a dependency of the main program, so is not installed by default.
Solution:
To fix this issue, either install the celestia-common-nonfree package through the package manager, or type in a terminal window

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get install celestia-common-nonfree

Best regards,

Guckytos
