i have been going though the The Extrasolar Planets Encyclopaedia and im finding alot thats missing

for example 16 Cyg is a tripe star system with 1 planet in 1.6.0 it only has 2 stars and no planet

i am making a list so i can post it to help people im also finding a bunch of systems that wont show orbit path

first question is i would like to know if the stars from starsdb2.1C_1.4.0 is in version 1.6.0

2nd question is a 2 part

i want to make Celestia real can someone tell me is there a all in one file or multiple files to update the planets outside the sol system

Before you waste too much effort to make Celestia "real", let me remind you that Celestia is first of all designed according to high, scientific standards. Since Celestia is a 3D visualization --note 3D-- we always need sufficiently precise "3D - specific" measurements of any object, e.g. star distances and lots of parameters for describing the orbits of multiple stars in 3D.

The stars you were referring to will certainly NOT be in the official distribution, since in that archive the star distances have been guessed with some very rough method by the creator of this add-on.

As you can easily estimate on the back of an envelope, the parallaxes of most of these stars that the official Celestia database is lacking, are so tiny that no measured distance data can possibly exist!

Analogously, for a system with 3 orbiting stars (16 Cyg) one needs in 3D quite a few orbital parameters (How many?). If multiple systems are lacking or incomplete in Celestia, it usually means that some or all orbital parameters are simply not known! If you do have a reliable source for all these parameters for that 3-body system, PLEASE let us know ;-)

We have quite some expertise in those matters in the Celestia dev team. So be assured, we didn't just forget about those objects that you mentioned in your post.

To take the example of 16 Cygni, the AB orbit is very poorly determined, and the AC orbit is not known at all..

As for the expanded star databases, no these are not in Celestia 1.6.0. The major revision to the stars database is to use the new reduction of the Hipparcos catalogue and better-defined criteria for inclusion/rejection of stars in the catalogue.

ok im just going by what i seen in The Extrasolar Planets Encyclopaedia im going though each of them and found like 30 planets that are not in celestia im going in order of discover im just now starting 2007

If you're going to do that kind of comparison you should be using the latest versions of the extrasolar.ssc and extrasolar.stc files from the Subversion repository. At present the policy is not to provide updated data files until major version releases.

Nevertheless there are some systems not included in Celestia, e.g. the microlensing detections, or many of the directly-imaged wide-orbit companions for which orbital data are unavailable.

Yes I think that would be useful. Do note down if you are comparing against the unconfirmed/controversial/retracted planets list though, most of these are deliberately excluded.

There is some chronical hardware trouble at shatters.net, while Chris Laurel, the owner of shatters, is travelling in Europe. He will be back tomorrow, if he didn't "interface" too closely with Iceland's erupting volcano ;-)

If you put your files into a Zip archive, the forum software will let you upload that.
