Hello
I require assistance with moving my old arrangment to a new computer.
Old PC has 1.5.1, new PC has 1.6.0.
Copied over the 1.5.1 "data" and "extras" folder to the main Celestia folder in 1.6.0 (replacing same in 1.6.0) but 1.6.0 briefly tries to load and subsequently disappears going no further. Is there a way to do this? Would appreciate any help.
Thanks.

Celestia closing like that usually indicates that one or more of the files in its data directory are damaged or incompatible. I suggest restoring the original files(*) and copying over only one of the changed files at a time until you find out which of them is causing the crash.
____
* -- Deleting the entire Celestia directory tree and reinstalling Celestia v1.6 from scratch is probably the safest thing to do. In general, it's best not to modify any of the files in the /data/ folder if you can avoid it. Using the "Modify" directive helps to avoid changing the contents of the SSC and STC catalog files.

Thanks Selden
I don't mind reinstalling version 1.6. When removing the current 1.6 do I go to Control Panel and uninstall or do I simply right-click the main Celestia folder and delete it?
I should also say that version 1.5.1 still works fine on my old computer, so how can there be corruption?

The uninstall procedure usually fails to delete the directories. I haven't used it for a very long time, so I don't know if it leaves other things, too. You can run the uninstall and then manually delete whatever is left.

Many of the v1.5.1 data files are not compatible with v1.6.

Thanks again. Indeed it was the "data" folder that was the problem. Also, I realised that it was the "extras" folder that I really needed. Up and running now.
