I did more than 200 binary systems (the official ones) without the slightest problems.
I assume you made sure that your 3d hardware support and drivers are working correctly!?

Did you compare your .stc file content with the appearance of the binary orbits in my visualbins.stc and spectbins.stc?

Did you make sure that you did not misplace a parenthesis or accidentally used ( instead of {, etc? A single typo could easily make the system crash! I advise to display your .stc. file so experts can have a look.

I've moved your post to the Help forum.

Unfortunately, screen freezes are almost invariably caused by graphics driver bugs, so download and install the most recent. Also, disable hardware acceleration entirely to see if that helps.

That said, there have been some changes in Celestia v1.6 in how the textures are drawn on binaries, but I doubt that'll make any difference.

See viewtopic.php?f=2&t=13710 for how to get a copy of V1.6 RC1.

for some reason, when i downloaded 1.60, it worked! the version i was using before was 1.51. im not quite sure what made it work, but i think it was better scripting in the program.

I have removed irrelevant comments and apologize for letting myself be irked by an inappropriate response.

Friendship7, I'm glad to know that v1.6 has corrected the bug your were experiencing.
