Zoom Galaxies like zoom Stars

What i realy like to do is :
- to zoom out to about 2 kpc from the earth
- increase magnitude to max
- then mouse right drag slowly

Wow, see all these stars (more wow using bigger star database), with my computer stars style set to points.
Want to go and see every one of them for real... Only if we have warp speed !

But when i try this on 2 mpc the closer galaxy's disappear, why is this, is this a setting ? Are there to many ?
It's not "Increase Galaxy Light Gain" because the closer ones still disappear when moving away.
