Importing a CMOD?
Is there a way to import a CMOD into anim8tor? I have the export script but is there an import script too?
Re: Importing a CMOD?
nope. sorry. anim8or does not support scripted imports.
there's a shareware 3d converter that can read cmod format, but it doesn't seem to do materials.

If you haven't already done so, you might try contacting the creators of the CMODs. The original models have to be in some other format, which they might be willing to provide.

Re: Importing a CMOD?
What I was wanting to do was make changes to a CMOD that I converted from a 3Ds file. If I go back to the original 3ds file I'll have to start from scratch.selden wrote:If you haven't already done so, you might try contacting the creators of the CMODs. Re: Importing a CMOD?
What kinds of changes are you making to the CMOD files?
As l guess you've found, you should try to avoid modifying CMODs in ways which are hard to apply when the CMOD has to be recreated. Some edits can be scripted, though, to make it easier. I use Anim8or with the CMOD exporter that I wrote and don't export to 3DS. Anim8or's model format has many more features than 3DS models do, and most of them can be exported to CMOD.
There's a CMOD exporter for Blender, too, if you prefer that program.

Re: Importing a CMOD?
Reiko,
what about the neat CMOD utility cmodview that Chris wrote not long ago? It also allows editing basic material properties and provides a number of other features.

I was trying to make physical changes to the model itself. After I converted it and thought everything was ok, I noticed problems later on where part of the model was distorted. I always do my texture fixes and assignments after a model has been converted to CMOD. This model required a lot of work in that regard and later when I noticed a problem with the mesh itself, I needed a way to change the mesh without having to go through the texture work again.
