That reaction of yours sounds strange indeed. Celestia is a multi-platform OpenSource Project, and hence building it yourself from the source code is a natural and simple way to go. And note, we do need people's feedback while developing new features. That strategy turns OpenSource software into much more stable products compared to most commercial programs.

Since Microsoft's C++ compiler is excellent AND free, it merely takes a click and your Celestia sources are rebuilt a few minutes later. That's what Linux users have been used to from the beginning, since the gcc compiler is part of the system.

There is of course a big advantage to this procedure for the users: they can enjoy the very latest improvements from the SVN development archive immediately and most easily. Official precompiled releases for Windows are only made available every 1.5 years or so. Since noone is paid for all the Celestia work, that's the price to pay.

Ahem... There is too much fair play here. I do not think freiza667 wish only to compile the SVN, but instead he/she want to modify the code, since he/she want to add a check box with associate operation to the render option window.
