Yes. I had a look and seems interesting.
(maybe a little too heavy on the screen for me)
Unfortunately I do not understand anything

Is there a link to test it ?
Do you keep the original ability of Lua Edu Tool to be easily translatable with the "locale" files ?
Can you tell more about this program ?

please follow the link at the end of Alexell's post (Celestia in Russia) !!

Of course the whole site is written in Russian language, but it's not difficult to find what you want!!

Added 4 color schemes, and easy switching between them will be using Celestia Config Manager (see viewtopic.php?f=25&t=17113).
Screenshots (sorry, that in Russian, there was no time to switch to English.):

By the way the color scheme there are bugs, but in the future we will make it right. Probably

Localization is not the most important issue.
These issues are easy to fix.
For example here is a screen with the French locale:

Click on the picture to see the details
nice.jpg

I have updated the width of the tool panels and it solves most of the problems.

:( There is a bug in the Russian compass: North and South are inverted and the directions are wrong. I have fixed it for the French version.
:( The virtual pad has the same image than the compass. But it is not rotating. Furthermore, it is not really localized. I don't see the reason of changing the standard tool.

Some buttons do not work, but I suppose this is because the tools is in developement.

The most annoying issue for me is this:

I tried to customize the tools by adding or removing some boxes, as I used to do in the original version.
This brokes entirely the layout of the tools.

If someone makes a new addon, it will be pratically impossible for the user to install it.
Even replacing the standard "cokpitBox" addon with my own "cockpitsBox" addon creates problems!

 This lack of flexibility is the main drawback of this version.
In my opinion, you must absolutely retain the ability for the user to customize easily his tools.

  • Of error in the compass, I wrote on my forum.
  • All the yellow button until programmed, and the rest should work.
  • But with the flexibility of the tool is really a big problem, for example, because we can not add new files and write the code in them.

I hope we will be able to refine the tool and fix its shortcomings.

My dream with any enhanced version of LUATOOLS should be the integration of things like these

BTW, the Planetary, Lunar, and Stellar Visibility is freeware for Windows OS.

Some of those features are included in the Qt version 1.7.x of Celestia at SVN. One might also wonder whether such pure (2D) ephemeris aspects should be embedded at all into a 3D visualization like Celestia. There is highly accurate specialized ephemeris software like e.g. XEphem (free & open source).

Usually such programs also include the possibility of steering amateur telescopes in real time etc.

why not? Of course just through LUATOOLS, not as deep planned Celestia's features. And with a table/plots print capability for quick reminder/visualization. For example, I and my friends we have a small fish boat and in these days we are fishing in the night-to-morning. Well, in two months the sea salinity has already destroyed the cheap notebook with Celestia and Stellarium on board I use to-check-and-to-see in "old" manner, measuring the altitudes of Venus, Saturn and Mercury at dawn with an "old" (a reproduction) medieval brass astrolabe. A table of paper is indeed more useful.
