Improved renderings of elliptical galaxies

Hi everyone (and developers). I was wondering if Celestia could render elliptical galaxies more realistically than it does now. Currently, they are drawn similarly to irregular galaxies. But they look more like this:

They have a more white to golden color, and have a very smooth brightness profile that is accurately described using
de Vaucouleurs' law. Any thoughts?

Looks like this was rendered using
Luke's elliptical galaxies addon.

It would be possible, but more difficult than improving the rendering of elliptical galaxies.
