Sometimes bugs in graphics code can produce some pretty results . . . Here's an image of Earth that's the result of an atmospheric scattering simulation gone awry:
Personally, I think it looks a bit Venusian.

It's funny, but that's still probably a more realistic rendition of a crescent planet (not the Earth, perhaps) than anything Celestia's shown so far .
