Re: centre/orbit

If I use "centre" I lose my reference object (I wish to follow both objects as if I was using "lock" and then "centre/orbit" - shift + c.

I'll take a look at the lua stuff, but was hoping there was a way of doing this in a CEL script.

Thanks for your replies.

centre/orbit

Hi, This is driving me crazy. Is there a way to simulate the centre/orbit (shift + c) command in a script ? I'm trying various combinations of "centre", "lock" and "follow" without success, and I'm hoping to avoid the necessity to specify coordinates for my reference ob...

Mac ATI problem

In lieu of the yet unresolved point sprites / display problems with the OSX, is it possible to access (download) the previous version of Celestia ?

If so, where ?

Many thanks,

Paul

but 1.4 is okay

Curiously though, stars render fine on version 1.4.1 of Celestia. In fact, my experiences of Celestia on a variety of macs over the years have been nothing but positive. It's only 1.5 in which stars are not rendering correctly (at least for me).

Square stars / no stars in 1.5.0 on Mac ?

I've been testing Celestia 1.5.0 on a number of new iMacs (ATI,RadeonHD2600). I see no stars when using 'fuzzy' or 'scaled', and when displayed as 'points' the stars are large square blobs. My previous versions 1.4.1 works fine. Tried a quick search of recent topics - some mention of 'sprites' but n...

Re: Virtual Texture Install Question ...

Thanks all. My problem was with 1.3.2 pre8. I'm back to 1.3.1 and all is working nicely. That'll teach me for trying out the pre-releases without first browsing the bugs / fixes forum.

Problems solved

For what it's worth, this site is what I was looking for: http://www.lns.cornell.edu/~seb/celestia/explain_spec.jpg But even that didn't solve my problem. No specular maps no matter what I did. Then, I reverted to version 1.3.1 (from the current pre-release) and hey presto ! Beautiful 32k specular m...

Thanks - but ...

Thanks Psyk, Yes I've seen this, but it hasn't helped shed light on my issue. I can get basic VT's working easily, but am not sure if my specular additions are working correctly. Maybe you mean the Virtual Textures For Dummies Manual ? Download it here : http://home.earthlink.net/~bobhegwood/id19.ht...

Virtual Texture Install Question ...

Hi, I'm trying to reinstall the Blue Marble 32k Earth VTs together with the 32k spec maps from http://home.tiscali.nl/celestia/ I had previously done this (although they might have been 16k specs) and remember the fantastic effect of these together with the 32k Blue Marble Earth VTs. For the life of...

Question for Don (and anyone else who cares to comment)

Thanks for the replies. Don, given your experience with Celestia and various cards, which would you recommend:

A basic no-frills 5900 with 128 MB, or a top of the line 5700 with 256 MB ?

Both seem comparable in price (with the 5700 a little cheaper).

Thanks

I thought this (slightly cheeky promotion) interesting for NVIDIA fans:

Some thoughts ...

I just went through the same thing (having just come back to Celestia after a few months off) - but understand fully that freeware like this is very much an 'at your own risk' deal - so don't for a minute hold anyone responsible for hand holding me through the process. For that, we have this excelle...

BlueMarble

Hi, I've been using the Pseudo "Pluck" for a couple of days and realised that I registered some time ago as Paul L. Apologies to the managment - I'm back. I've just posted (perhaps incorrectly) to the textures database re: the new BlueMarble textures purported to be available from www.marfig.com/cel...

Much appreciated - and your reply makes sense. When it's all over, I suggest you start with the Venus fly by. Change field of view in script ?

Is there a command for the above ? (ie, the "," and "." equivalents). Also, is there an updated comprehensive .cel guide somewhere that I'm not aware of (other than the basic one which has been around for some time).

Thanks,

Paul L
