chaos syndrome,
Just some praise to you. I took a look at the page you referenced and I could not make heads or tails of any of it. Very complicated stuff you've worked out here. Real nice work.

Re: Mars Reconnaisance Orbiter finds/images the Viking Landers!
What I would love to see is an up close vist by a rover to either of the Viking landers. Could you imagine Spirit or Discover rolling up and photographing a Viking lander? I'm sure that even if they made a bee line to the closest one it would take a couple of years That would be something to see tho...

Re: Trouble with LWS models
Not to rain on the parade, but did anyone get the original modellers' permissions to convert and release these? Converting and re-releasing models hits a major chord with the creators of 3D models. Most likely they agree to let you do it, but you really should get thier permission. Also, if you do r...

That is perfect guys. I really appreciate the example Spaceman Spiff, it helps a lot.
Thanks again.

Barycenter Orbit a Star
I've been hunting around the search and have not found anything about it, so I thought I'd ask. I'm trying to set up a pair of planets, orbiting a barycenter, and that barycenter orbits a star. I've found all sorts of things about defining barycenters in STC files, but nothing about using them in SS...

Re: New Messenger model almost done
Excellent work Cham. You're right, it's much better than the "crude" model I made.
Seriously though, real nice work. I can attest that there really isn't a lot of info out there on the probe to base a model from. You're best bet may be contacting the developers.

Re: Mission New Horizons?
The last that I had heard was that they were having problems getting the radioactive material for the mission. There were some issues about production not being able to meet the demand. That was quite some time ago, but it does give the impression that the mission is approved and moving forward.

Re: Posting complete Celestia configurations
Maybe instead of posting complete zipped files, a listing of what addons they used and any tweaks they've had to make. (The files are already out there, no sense in chewing up disk space by putting them up again. If someone is using something that's not already out in the public domain, then I can't...

Holly cow! Fantastic work!
Can I ask about hot the flares are done? Or can you point me to where Cham posted his method?

Looks nice, Cham.
I'll have to go download it and check it out, but from the screenshots I like it already.

Ah ha!
I thought the tab completion list was generated automatically on the fly, so when I typed HIP and came up with nothing I figured I was doing something wrong.
Thanks Selden, works like a charm.

OK, stupid question
How do I select a star by its HIP number, or can't I? I tried just entering it "HIP " as I would a named star like "Sol", but that doesn't work. I end up with Hind's Crimson Star. For example, HIP 49986 is listed in the Star Browser, so it's out there, but how would I key it in to select it? I tried...

Re: windows XP SP2 problems
I would install the latest NVidia driver regardless of what your system reports. I was running SP1 with an MSI/NVidia 5200 card and Celestia worked great. I installed SP2 and even though my system reported that I was using the same drivers, Celestia was so slow it was unusable. I reinstalled my NVid...

Help with Texture Seams
I'm looking for some advice. I'm working on trying to create some planet textures, in particular gas giants, and don't know how I can eliminate the seam where the texture wraps around. No matter how hard I try to keep the patterns lined up on each end, when it wraps around it's very obvious that the...

Mercury Messenger 3DS Model
OK, I took a crack at making the Messenger probe for Celestia. It's very basic, I based it on directions for building a paper model of the probe. Anyway, here it is if anyone wants to play with it. This is my first model for Celestia, so let me know if I need to change anything. Thanks http://home.c...

Resource Request - Mercury Messenger Probe
I'm looking for reference material on the Mercury Messenger probe. I'm going to take a crack at modelling it, but all I've found so far has been instructions on building a paper model of it.
Anyone know of any good sites where I can find reference info on space probes in general?
Thanks

Re: STC File Question
I'm using 1.3.1 and I think I got it. If I add a hyphen it works. So, instead of O5Ia is use O5-Ia it will work.
