Re: Galileo spacecraft
I looked all over that site and I didn't find the Galileo spacecraft files. All I found are the files for Galileo's probe. The Galileo probe crashed into Jupiter in December 1995. I'm actually looking for the files of the Galileo spacecraft itself. The one that's been orbiting Jupiter since 1995 and...

Galileo spacecraft
I was wondering if anyone had files that have the correct trajectory for the spacecraft that crashed into Jupiter today. I have one, that I downloaded a long time ago that does not crash into Jupiter, it passes as close as 1 million km from the planet and then stops.
thanks
thanks

Re: Label objects
I don't know if it's true that everyone matters because I didn't get a response to my original post until after I posted a response to it. But "anyone who matters" referred to the developers of this program. I was asking if anyone who works on developing this program read this board. If the suggesti...

Re: Label objects
As long as there is no other way, removing the asteroids from the program to prevent their names from appearing may be the only way. I won't do it though, because I want them all in the program. I'll just have to live with the asteroids not being labelled. I haven't looked into Don's idea yet, but I...

Re: Label objects
Yeah, but that's not very useful is it? Just because I don't want an object labelled, I need to completely remove it from Celestia? And when I want to have it labelled, I need to put in back in Celestia?

Re: Label objects
Well, I still like my idea :) It's good to see labelled objects far away, for example, I look at a section of the sky and see the word "Pluto" so I know Pluto is there even if I can't see it. It would be nice to look at a section of the sky and see far away the word "Quaoar". I can do it, but if I d...

Label objects
I always have "Label Planets" on. I like it. I would also like some asteroids always labeled. Ceres, Ida, Chiron, and Quaoar. Maybe some others later... But right now I can only either have Label Asteroids on, which puts the name of all the asteroids or have Label Asteroids off, which turns them all...

Re: The Moon - weird image
Ok, thanks. I think I understand. Do you think that this is something that can be fixed? Look at this image of Earth as seen from Mercury. We can clearly see the Moon orbiting Earth. I would think that standing on Mercury and looking at Earth, we would just see a blue dot and no moon around it unles...

Re: The Moon - weird image
Ok, thanks. Let's try this. I went back to the (almost) exact same spot as yesterday and tried creating the URL. Hope this works: cel://SyncOrbit/Sol:Earth/1994-05-10T17:23:05.29904?x=hJBI7pnP5GOzDA&y=Tu4+WzZeBg&z=bX/6ErXUWTUM&ow=0.725507&ox=-0.214222&oy=0.277822&oz=0.592084&select=Sol:Earth:Moon&fo...

The Moon - weird image
Look at this image of the Moon as seen from Earth. Why is there a bright white spot in the middle? Because the sun is on the other side of the Moon, shouldn't the Moon be completely dark as seen from Earth? http://images3.fotki.com/v32/free/c01cb/9/92118/346931/weirdmoon-vi.jpg I've never done this ...

Re: Quaoar
Of course, it is not possible to have everything. Like I said in my previous post, I thought Celestia was looking to have the most accurate simulation of the universe POSSIBLE. It is not possible to have everything. I saw that there are planets around other stars in Celestia... I think those planets...

Re: Quaoar
ok, so I guess I didn't understand what Celestia is trying to be. I didn't know that people were only putting "random selection from the various types of solar-system objects". I thought we were looking to have the most possible objects in the program to look for the most accurate simulation of the ...

Quaoar
Hi,
Am I supposed to have Quaoar in Celestia? I can't find it in the solar system.
I have Celestia 1.3.1 prerelease 6.
If I go to the menu, and select "Select Object" and type "Quaoar", it doesn't select anything.
