Re: Earth 18,000 BCE - A Work In Progress! - Nah it is finished!

I'm wondering ... would the West Indies (Cuba, et. al.) have been one large island, since the sea level would be about 300 feet lower than today?

Atlantis, perhaps?

Re: Earth 18,000 BCE - A Work In Progress! - Nah it is finished!

Nice. I'm the guy that requested the iced Earth btw. :) Two questions though: Shouldn't the Antarctic cap also be larger, and shouldn't there be much more snow and glaciation on the mountain ranges? The rest looks good though. I think during the last ice age, Egypt and most of the Sahara desert was ...

Re: Earth Flooded! Part II: The Floodening

I heard a guy on the radio saying that the current "global warming" was actually just a prelude to a new Ice Age, that there was a global warming event immediately prior to the last few Ice Ages. When you're done with this, can you do an "Iced Earth", with sea levels about 300 feet below today's lev...

Re: Is there any free homepage spaces for me to make a gallery??

Lots of free ones, but a lot of the free ones, like geocities, don't allow outside linking, so if you wanted to post pics in forums like this nobody would be able to see them.

Re: Astronomy related Software

True, Orbiter's more of a space flight sim than an astronomy tool, but like Dr. Grant said, some boys want to be astronauts. :D

El Pelado, I'm pretty sure if you download any of the Shuttle 2.0 add-ons from avsim.com, it will have them.

I have Adastra Freestar on my system, but mostly besides Celestia I use Orbiter . I love exploring the solar system in my own starships. :D http://mrbatman.triplehelix.info/images/ascent.jpg http://mrbatman.triplehelix.info/images/orbit.jpg http://mrbatman.triplehelix.info/images/Earthrise.jpg "I ha...

Re: The Moon

I think 'Field of view' is the problem here. The default FoV in Celestia is about 45 degrees, which (someone correct me if I'm wrong) is quite a wide-angle field of view. The Moon is about half a degree across, so it looks rather small there. I don't know what the normal human field of view is, but...

Where is render.cpp? I don't see it anywhere in my Celestia folders, even hidden.

Re: Star of Bethlehem?

You could not be more wrong. I have been reading the works of many many Biblical scholars for the last 12 years. ... What is relevent is how accurate the stories are. Let me give you one of many examples. In the new testament it says Judas hung himself, Yet in another book it says he threw himself ...

Re: ringworld

I can see the Ringworld just fine ... until I zoom out to about 86 A.U., then Celestia locks up. Is that what you guys are talking about?

Re: Star of Bethlehem?

Actually that's not a long time at all. Jesus lived till about AD 30 or 33. Most of the eyewitnesses of his life and miracles were still alive at AD 70, when Matthew was most likely written, and at least one of the Apostles lived until AD 100. If the gospel writers got anything wrong, anyone who was...

Re: ringworld

Anyone have a link to the earlier Ringworld implementation? I can't seem to find it. Edit: Nevermind, I found it. It looks awesome! Doing an atmosphere would be extremely difficult; you'd almost have to have a separate atmospheric mesh sitting inside the Ringworld's mesh, I would think. Would also b...

I'm wondering if NASA also uses Orbiter? I would think it would be a great tool for them.

Nope, that's a known issue, happens with all the models once you get too close.
