Moon Orbit Display Glitch
I noticed this strange glitch in the Moon's orbit display: wtf.jpg I'm running r4473 of the Win32 exe with all the latest files updated from Sourceforge. The only setting I have changed in the config is to make OrbitPathSamplePoints 360 instead of the default 100. I'll experiment to see if this is t...

Quick question about gravity
I was just wondering, if you were standing on a planet with half the gravity of Earth, would that mean you could jump twice as high or is it not that simple a calculation?

If you select the first object and then the second and then press Shift+; the camera will lock the line of sight from one object to the other.

Re: Post your Celestia pictures!
I created these 2 pics from screenshots taken in Celestia and then modified in Photoshop CS3. They show the ascending and decending nodes (marked by white lines) of the orbits, with the lower part shown in purple and the higher in blue (not sure of the technical terms for those). I've also shown eac...

Changing Units
I was just wondering if there is any way to change the extrasolar unit of distance from Lightyears to Parsecs? If not, would this be any easy feature to add in a future release?

Eris Orbital Question
I've been looking at various bodies' Perihelion and Aphelion lately using the Ecliptic Grid and while focusing on Eris came across some details that don't match. The Perihelion of Eris in Celestia is roughly 194.5° and yet all the data I can find online says it should be 187.3°. Am I looking at the ...

I found this stunning view of Jupiter and Io, while doing some new updates for my educational activities. You get the beauty of Jupiter, erupting volcanoes on Io, a total solar eclipse and the Milky Way all in one shot. :) Wow.jpg How do you get all the controls up on the right-hand side of the scr...

Re: Extraterrestrial Seasons
For anyone interested, I found a website here that has information on the matter. It uses the beginning of 2000 as its basis for dates, but you can easily work it out for current dates from there.

Reference Vectors
I just have one quick question:
In 'Reference Vectors' I understand what Body Axes, Sun Direction, and Velocity Vectors are, but what are the Frame Axes?

Moon Orbit Display
I was looking at the moons of Jupiter today and was just wondering if there was a way to show only the orbits of the main moons, as in the ones lying roughly on the planet's equator? The minor moons with their crazy orbits are too distracting.

The latest update on those links is from Jul 20, 2006... Are they still working on it? A lot happens in the 3D visualisation and astronomical fields in 2 years. EDIT: Ahh, sorry, I just saw that the Japanese version is up to 1.2 as of May 26, 2008... I wonder why they stopped making the English vers...

I was wondering just the other day how you can work out the dates of other planets and/or moons solstices and equinoxes? I found the North Pole RA and Dec on Wikipedia, but that was about as good as my research got. Does anyone know how to calculate the dates from there? Is the North Pole RA and Dec...

One more quick question about Lux:
Is it additive? For instance, if the Moon and Sun are in the sky together, do you just add the 2 values (however insignificant it may be)?
