Re: This is really annoying...
Interesting, I just ran the same test terms as before and got the identical results as I first posted... Firefox 3 in Xubuntu LINUX, but that shouldn't matter. Who knows.
Oh well, I guess that there are more important things in life to be concerned about...

"Joe", Let me give you a practical demonstration of why your user name is unacceptable... This is result of searching, or trying to search, for Celestia forum posts using your current user name using the search box in the upper right hand corner: No posts were found because the word ?ae(j?...

This is really annoying...
I don't frequent this forum too often, but I'm going to comment anyway... Usernames like )??(??(J?E)??)??( and SU(3)xSU(2)xU(1) are really annoying. I guess I'm supposed to disregard the "cutsy hacker style" junk and discern this users name is "Joe" and the other is... ??? C'mon ...

Re: Where were you when they walked on the Moon?
I was a 12yr old kid whose family was stationed at the Naval Air Station on Adak, Alaska. Adak is an island way out in the Aleutian Chain, tundra, rain, wind and fog... I watched the landing on AFRTS (Armed Forces Radio and Television Service on that day and I remember being totally spellbound by th...

Re: What is Celestia for? Add-ons analysis
I don't understand all this "What is Celestia for?" analysis anyway... It's a tool. It can be whatever one needs, a game, a sim, a scientific application, etc. Modify the source code, write scripts, whatever... I've been working on an Add-On that models the Smoke Ring environment from Larr...

Re: Celestia for LINUX lagging behind?
@LordFerret, thx for the tips, they are appreciated. Currently, I'm messing around to see if could embed a Ruby or Python interpreter in Celestia. I'm running a quad core AMD CPU and interested in seeing if I can some multi-threading, multi-core action going... I'm not too impressed with LUA's corou...

Re: Preliminary thoughts for the next Unified UI
You were just saying: "IMO that's a decision the devs can make based on technical expertise and UI code integration concerns". So I find this funny because actually what do you think this thread is for? Isn't this forum a dev only forum? If such thread is open, perhaps it's because we nee...

Re: Preliminary thoughts for the next Unified UI
Well, let's look at something that I would consider an important element of "user friendliness": resource creation. While I've not been the most active participant in Celestia, I have had an interest in it since about 1.4.1 or thereabouts. I've read through a number of threads and at times...

Re: Preliminary thoughts for the next Unified UI
Frankly, I think deriving multiple "usage profiles" for Celestia is counter-productive in a sense. Why would an educator need different capabilities than a hobbyist or a professional? It depends on the application, not necessarily the person using it. When one starts to define an applicati...

Celestia for LINUX lagging behind?
I see that Celestia for Windows and Mac is currently 1.5.1 while for a LINUX install is at 1.4.1. I was simply curious why? Is there a lack of maintainer for the LINUX version?
Cheers.
Cheers.

Comprehensive .celx commands listing?
Is there anyway, or anywhere, to find or get a listing of the .celx commands that are usable in v1.6.x? I've been noodling around the scripting threads but information doesn't seem to be too well organized in this regards... I understand v1.6.x isn't officially released, but the code seems to be wel...

I was doing some research and ran across this site: http://sponeil.net/ the other day.

No worries guys... And the reverse in true for me, ElChristou, I never considered the French meaning of the word... (I failed French in school and took German and Spanish instead).

I don't believe we've had Intelligent Design brought up in these forums before... I suppose it was inevitable. The book doesn't focus exclusively on ID... There are a quite a few purely scientific hypothesis and theories brought forward as well. An example is the type of planets that could exist ar...

The Priviledged Planet.
I've noticed a number of Celestia users are interested in modeling "real world" world objects as add-ons or similar. For those of you interested in the potential for life on other worlds, and as a guide somewhat to modeling your own "life sustaining" worlds, I would encourage you...
