Re: modelling and animating a satellite in celestia
aint so easy then.Is it up yet? Have I got that right that any movement in Celestia has to be in terms of orbits?and is there not an easier way.

Has Google Earth stolen some of Celestias thunder?
Hi everyone, I noticed I wasn't looking at Celestia so much lately, I think it's because I'm an Earth orientated Celestia user. I like collecting the Earth textures and putting in models like the Golden Gate Bridge, and high definition tiles of various places, but it all seems a bit redundant when y...

Re: "Pitch Black"
Hmmm. So God (or Yahweh as He styled Himself back then) commanded there to be Light in Hebrew. Presumably He was talking to Himself, in which case it may not have been in verbal form, for example when I fancy a beer, or a cracker with cheese I often just get a sort of image (try thinking just the wo...

Re: Moon Rock Question
Hi all
Are moonrocks found in Antarctica? There are ones from Mars to be found there, so could there be?
Apart from scientific interest, which needs a lot of equipment to fully explore, like checking out isotopes etc.what is the use of a moonrock? Why would someone want one? A paperweight?

"Pitch Black"
Hi All, I was just watching "Pitch Black"- Vin Diesel movie, and was trying to get an idea of how the planetary system looked. Seemingly the film is based on Asimovs "Nightfall", probably familiar to many here. There have been different configurations, but the original had a planet continuously lit,...

Re: My Easter Island Statue needs putting up the right way
Hi Selden and jestr Thanks for the help, I've got things going a bit better now, after some more chaos with the model, trying to rotate it -90 degrees, I found I had to group it first as the stone and eyes didn't rotate with the body, so I've learned something. Now, much heartened by the success I'm...

Re: My Easter Island Statue needs putting up the right way
Selden-Thanks for looking at this, when I open the model in Anim8tor, change the eyes so no texture called and set a colour, I think like you've said here, and then save as the same name file as the original, the file size doubles and it won't open in Celestia.A copy of the original file swapped bac...

My Easter Island Statue needs putting up the right way
Hi All, Would anyone be able to help me with this please? I have found a nice model of an Easter Island statue, (or Moai) here http://www.3dcafe.com/wrapper/ and have been trying to place it on the island. I can't find any very high res. pictures, not for free, anyway; the Island is at -109.24417(lo...

Re: wormhole addon
Wow! In a spherical throat and looking at rainbows, sounds pretty wild to me, so long as you can handle the tidal forces. How can you make that? One of the difficulties for me was to do with the way movement is done. I havent really been keeping up as I used to, but if gifs for example are not suppo...

Re: wormhole addon
Hello everyone, Well, I thought that swirly colours and the like could be in the walls of my wormhole tube, even just to make for a more interesting journey, sadly this notion seems to have been dismissed because apparently one just arrives instantly at the other side of a wormhole.I did actually wr...

Moon shock
Howdy All,
Has this been discovered already? Are the scientists here keeping quiet? Go to http://moon.google.com/ and zoom in as close as possible (to penetrate the surface dust) and witness the amazing truth..(which some of us knew all along)

Re: Im an idiot
Hi, Maybe you could rephrase this query for a response ; in the meantime....why not try making a copy of an existing ssc, open it with notepad, do a bit of editing, maybe one parameter at a time and temporarily putting it in place of (the safely stored) original, you can learn a lot by trial and err...

Hi,
It would seem uninstalling doesnt really get rid of old drivers, remnants seem to corrupt a new installation. Have you tried the file remover such as here;

Apathetic- a token vote to show that you can be apathetic but still just about be motivated enough. Just the one thing though, why the big production about someone going (again)? You don't have to get the removal guys in or anything, why not go, or stay, or lurk, or come back , whatever , the same a...

Re: Star Wars-Queen Amidala's Starship-some work needed
Hi all, El Christou wrote If you can get the permission from the authors to use their models, why not... To me this goes without saying; when I visited the site, there was a page that to my understanding gave a general consent to the personal (ie non -commercial or otherwise exploitative) use of the...

Star Wars-Queen Amidala's Starship-some work needed
Hi All, Just back from seeing the film, I discovered I can do a passable impression of Darth Vader's voice with the assistance of an empty plastic drink bottle, but I just don't seem to have the necessary patience to make things in Animator, (just been looking at the impressive Tin-Tin model here). ...
