Re: The Feature Requests Collecting Thread
Request: An "export equirectangular image" function would be really nice, with a few (2:1) sizes to pick from, to be used in a QTVR panorama. I know that Celestia is already far better than a QTVR file, but those are nice to share with people as an example view from your addon. You could ...

Re: Just started...problems :(
But never mind, I give up. NOT. YAY! I fixed the problem!! In case someone else needs the info, I'll say exactly what I did. I FINALLY found a copy of "opengl32.dll" to download, backed up my original, and replaced it with the new one. I restarted, and BAM. I have 1.1.2 openGL again. :) I...

Re: Just started...problems :(
Ok...
I've read the FAQ. We're talking about 2 different things, apparently.
I HAVE updated the drivers, just the way you described, to the drivers that Intel said were the right ones.
It didn't work.
But never mind, I give up.
Thanks very much for your help and patience though.

Re: Just started...problems :(
I've been looking for hours, and I've managed to learn one thing: microsoft hates openGL. :( "The video drivers on the Windows XP CD-ROM (That are installed by default) do not support any form of hardware accelerated OpenGL, so even if your card does, games will fail to run until you install an...

Re: Just started...problems :(
I'm sorry, i should have been more specific. I'm now using an HP Pavilion XE783. My open GL info has reverted back to exactly what it was before, on my old computer (at the beginning of this thread). Vendor: Microsoft Corporation Renderer: GDI Generic Version: 1.1.0 Max simultaneous textures: 1 Max ...

Re: Just started...problems :(
Sorry for the delayed response, I've been having computer problems. Imagine. This last one resulted in basically having to upgrade to XP. That's all well and good, but now my SAME video card, drivers, and adapter have fewer options available under XP. Multitextures are now gone, for instance. What h...

I did try to press ctrl-V multiple times, but it just turns multitextures off and on. Still, if I had to just pick one path to render... :p Well here's the moon as it looks now: http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d106/localgods/Apollonius4.jpg The parent star shines in the ultraviolet range, and the ...

Re: Just started...problems :(
I've moved the thread to the Help forum, but left a pointer in the original one. Ok, thanks! In order to be able help more, please provide the answers to the following questions: 1. Which render paths are available to you now? In other words, when you type a Ctrl-V several times (pausing between th...

Re: Just started...problems :(
I hate to necro this thread after so long, but... Getting a newer computer took a bit longer than I anticipated. I finally did, though, and I was excited to finally have graphic capabilities necessary to properly run my addon. Then it still didn't work. :| Here are my new stats: Vendor: Intel Render...

Re: My first planet
Those look great, Reiko! FWE has its limitations, but you actually CAN use it to produce some great-looking, realistic textures if you're patient enough with the software to learn a few tricks. The limitations...or many of them...can be overcome with paintshop or photoshop. One of those limitations ...

Re: Earth-like Textures Made with FWE
Yup! Gas giants can be tricky, though... If you look at my add-on thread ('in progress', or something like that), you can see some of the things I'm doing with the program. If you think outside the box, it holds many surprises. It's definirely one of those programs that awards the curious experiment...

Re: Hi everybody!
Yup, that's what I use. And you're right...it's pretty powerful. Every texture I've ever posted here was made with it. Oh, btw...I posted an Earth-like terrain in the textures forum for you! I would have PM'ed it, but I was afraid it would become shrunken (as has been the case for me before).

Earth-like Textures Made with FWE
The 'FWE' stands for Fractal World Explorer, which comes with AstroSynthesis. Now that I've found Celestia, FWE is really the only part I use any more. You can do a lot with it with some effort. If you get it, just keep 2 things in mind: The 'Shading Exaggeration' and 'water/wind erosion' settings a...

Re: Add-on in progress
Hey, that looks cool! That's something you were already working on? Cool! Well I've been working on the add-on still. Now it's up to 2 stars, 3 planets, and six moons. I'm having a lot of fun... This first new planet's texture took me longer to do than any other yet. I literally had to paint a lot o...

Re: Hi everybody!
Hiya! Any chance of making a pack textures for earth like worlds? :D Sure! I love to make them. When I say 'crank out' though...what I mean is that my random generator can crank them out all day. I NEVER just keep the default image though, but instead tweak it for 2-3 hours sometimes until it's as ...

Re: Add-on in progress
Thanks! :D I love warping science to suit my aesthetic whims. ....But then I found this: "Remarkable 'ultraviolet' star detected by Orion 2" http://adsabs.harvard.edu/abs/1974Afz....10..379G Maybe I'll make it a binary star system, and have the second star be ultraviolet!

Add-on in progress
Here's what I have so far: 1 star, 1 planet with a moon, and a white dwarf. Ok, that's 2 stars but whatever. The planet's moon has radioactive elements within its crust that absorb light during the light phase, and emit it during the dark phase. God I love night textures...what a cool thing. I don't...

Re: Just started...problems :(
It's ok...I'm supposed to be getting a new computer in the next month or two anyway, to replace this relic from some previous civilization. In the mean time I'm still going to be loving me some Celestia, and making lots more texture maps in eager anticipation. Thank you very much again for all your ...
