Re: Marking an object in CELX

I am such a DOOFUS!

I knew that if you suggested something, it should work (I am aware of your reputation). I put in the wait and still no marker.

I looked at the rendering options and I had markers turned off.

(smacks forehead)

Thanks so much!

Marking an object in CELX

I know I've missed something covered by the docs, but I'm having problems marking an object. Here's the code I have: observer = celestia:getobserver() mars = celestia:find("Sol/Mars") observer:center(mars) wait(6) mars:mark("#FFFF00", "x", 20 ) mars:unmark() Mars gets selected and centerered. I have...

Re: Coordinate conversion tool?

I did a Google for coordinate conversion tools. I found quite a few, but none of them were free.

Sorry.

Re: dawn on mercury

I didn't have the Sun centered and I didn't let it run long enough.
Works great now. Thanks for the tips.

No luck with these instructions

I'm sure I'm doing something wrong, but I have no idea what.
When I follow these instructions, all I see is a brown screen, which I'm sure is the surface of Mercury.
I've tried it several times. Could it be an option I have set?
Thanks

Celestia on Mandrake 9.0

I just upgraded my video card to a GeForce4 ti4200 and I'm having trouble getting Celestia to start up. The message I am getting is that Celestia can't load a required library. The library it is looking for is: /usr/X11R6/lib/libGL.so.1.2 When I installed the NVidia drivers for the board, it moved t...

Re: Idea: Texture Packs

I think the texture pakcs are a good idea, but I can see that not everyone would want to wait for a huge download of a 16k texture. How about texture packs based on resolution e.g. earth2k, mars8k, etc? That way, people who didnt need or want the large textures wouldn't have to wait for the download...

Mandrake 9.0 and TI4200 video card

Getting ready to take the big plunge into Linux soon and have settled on Mandrake 9.0 based on my past experience with their distros. I have been surfing looking for potential "gotchas" and there seems to be one concerning Mandrake 9.0 and a TI4200 video card. Has anybody had this problem? What did ...

Re: Which Operating system are you using? (poll)

Since I started this with a regular post, I feel like I should contribute my two cents worth. I am currently using XP after a complete reinstall. The reinstall became necessary after Photoshop wouldn't start and after several PS reinstalls and a couple of XP reinstalls. The only real reason I was st...

Which Operating system are you using?

Without flames, which OS are you using? If Linux, which one and have you had any problems getting Celestia built and running. Had a really frustrating Windoze episode today and am thinking about finally switching over to Linux. I have run Linux in the past under a dual boot setup, but when I install...

PNY Video cards

I've been looking around at video cards at newegg.com and have found a PNY card that seems to have everything I need (GeForce4, 64meg, ti4200).
It's reasonably priced ($127) and they have it in stock.
Does anybody have experience with these cards?

Re: Celestial Phenomena and quizz : 16 moons

Maybe not exactly (since this isn't a Hertz moon), but it looks like you are watching the Moon go through its phases from the side of the Moon that we can't see.

Re: what? the earth wobbles!!!

The Earth doesn't really "wobble" in the conventional sense. It does, over very long periods of time, change its tilt angle. This is called "precession" but it is a long term process.
