Re: 3D model help
Selden, You are correct, Celestia seems to rendering the whole thing transparent, when the domes are the only part that should be transparent. But I am unable to find the correct field to enter the transparency, please forgive my ineptitude, as this is my first time working with 3D software. The Cmo...

3D model help
So, I have recently picked Celestia back up and dusted off the addons I had been working on, I also picked up Wings3d, and having much more understanding of how things work, knocked up a small model for an orbital habitat. However, I can't get the textures to cooperate, I've tried using both CMOD an...

I think an easy way to beautify and expand your galaxy would be to add some clusters and binary systems.

"Gone were the obscuring masses of dust and gas. A billion years ago they must have been swept up for fuel by the hungry, crowded stars. the core lay before me like a great jeweled sphere. I'd expected it to be a gradual thing,....there was nothing gradual about it.....The red stars were the bigges...

Re: Atmosphere inside a dyson sphere
eburacum45, Concerning centrifugal force. I realize that the shape of the object makes a large part of the habitat unsuitable for human life, however the area is not entirely unusable, in this scenario it is used for agriculture. Also this structure serves a dual purpose, It acts like the moon to st...

Re: Planet Textures
I did this in about ten minutes with the magic wand and flood fill tools, and a satellite photo. It's pretty rough, but I hope you get the idea. I used two stock patterns and one custom pattern (from the satellite image) after selecting the respective land/mountainous regions on 71% in magic wand. T...

If I'm not mistaken, a blue star of comparable size to the sun would be so dense that the other star would be absorbed, and if you are wondering about color, most of the lighter star's matter would probably stay on the surface, but I think it would remain blue.

Technical question;
how do you get the atmosphere to work on an unconventional environment;
say, inside a dyson sphere?
Fantastic work, by the way.
