I tried this a while ago.
It's fun to play with the solar system, e.g. what happens if I put another earth sized planet between Earth and Mars, or between Earth and Venus.
Sometimes we lose the moon, sometimes planets crash, sometimes nothing happens.

Re: Please take 5 minutes to benchmark your machine...
I turned vertical sync off for Celestia.
Result is a 190 fps @ 1920x1200

Re: Please take 5 minutes to benchmark your machine...
I get steady 60 fps with 4 time antialiasing.
Specs see below, I run from SSD.

Re: list of minor planets who doesn't exist in Celestia
But developing Celestia is now low priority? Except for adding new data as it is discovered?

Re: new moon orbits Pluto
Marco, that's why I'm using spice kernels for most moons and all planets.
This way, you get the most accurate positions possible.
Downside is that Celestia won't run as smooth as with calculated or VSOP orbits.

Re: Juno Jupiter probe
John,
You may be right. My whole solar system is based on spice kernels so I don't run into those problems
Maybe someone can test this?

Re: Language
If you delete the Locale folder in the Celestia folder, the program reverts back to English.
Als je de map Locale uit de Celestia map verwijdert, dan is Celestia weer standaard in het Engels.
Euhmm dat is als je dus Engels boven Nederlands prefereert
Anders zie de reactie van ajtribick

how do you get your sun like that, with rays and everything? there is an add on for that BUT it turns the star into a mini solar system all by it's self adding an asteroid as the center and a few "planets" around it I've added the solar flares and that looks nice. The first movie Gremo po...

Re: What's your favorite star?
Mine is Vega in Lyra. During summer this is one of the stars that's first visible through the naked eye after sunset.
Also because Vega has a dust disk surrounding it, makes it a very interesting object.
