Re: Neat little Euler gravity simulation coded by me
Yeah, at first I centered the camera on the center of mass of the system, which worked very well when I just had 2 orbiting bodies, but a few of the other versions had randomly initialized groups of 20 or so orbiting planets which all interacted chaotically, resulting in their launches into deep spa...

Re: Gravity Calculations, Attractors, and Game Physics.
Something like this? http://www.celestiaproject.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4990 I am working on a simple real time gravity simulation that approximates various orbiting bodies and the forces between them. I'll be happy to help. Ok, the above equation works correctly if you want to use enormous mass v...

Neat little Euler gravity simulation coded by me
Hey guys, I like this little physics offshoot forum. It's interesting. A few days ago I decided to learn how to program with OpenGL just for fun, instead of studying for AP tests (i know, bad choice, but whatever). So I decided to make a simple simulation that approximates more than 2 orbiting bodie...

Re: Celestia in REAL 3D view..
I prefer the cross eyed method. I'm not sure, but I think you HAVE to use the cross eyed method when you look at the pictures posted in this topic because of the way each side is aligned. It helps alot if you sit farther back from your monitor, about 5-6 feet (1.5-2.0 meters or something). That way ...

Re: Interested in helping (3D Modeler)
There are some nebulae pictures in this topic: http://ennui.celestiaproject.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1727 Version 1.2.6 will support "deep sky objects" which can be used to show nebulae, but they need to be modeled. If you are willing to do some simple sphere or flat object texturing to give views ...

Re: Question about orbital mechanics
Thanks, I've finally implemented a correct method of time scaling, and the orbital errors are greatly reduced. I guess its just the error resulting from a finite number of calculations as the object is influenced by gravitational forces instead of an infinite number that truely occurs.

Question about orbital mechanics
Hey, I've been messing around with Celestia for a while now, and I think it's quite impressive. I recently programmed a little program for my TI-86 calculator that would simulate two particles of different masses and how they would interact given a position and a starting velocity. I used newton's l...

How do you register for the users gallery?
Hey, I was just wondering how you register for the users gallery. I may be interested in posting some intersting pictures. I've only taken a couple so far though.
