What you need to do is to find the celestia.cfg file in your installation. You can open and edit it with any text editing program. Once you find it you need to edit it to add a new extras directory, this can be on any drive. The file itself contains instructions on how to do this .
Good Luck

Re: Spaceship Cockpit
The cockpit overlay was coded into the ecucation version of Celestia. This version incorporates some features not in the offical release to make it better for instructional use. You can find it at at the education section of the Celestia Motherlode: http://www.celestiamotherlode.net/catalog/educatio...

Re: Distance Sphere
What are you trying to do? The Celestial Grid can show you distances, also Seldon has created a number of add-ons for that purpose. You might want to check them out to see if they have what you need. Seldon's add-ons can be downloaded at: http://www.lepp.cornell.edu/~seb/celestia/graticules.html

Re: Reference frames
Cham, have you checked Seldon's Celestia Notes page: http://www.lepp.cornell.edu/~seb/celestia/celestia_notes.html He is keeping up with documentation on the new features of 1.5.0 I agree that a new .ssc guide would be nice because of all the changes, but I think that it should wait until the offici...

That is not the only "Black Hole" program that has just come out. Google video has just added a documentary from the Science Channel on Supermassive Black Holes. You can find it at:

Re: Bouncing in Mariner 10
On the 2 probe problem, check to see if you have two .ssc files that say "mariner 10" as the name of the object. If Celestia finds two files and they are different it may treat them as two different objects. On the non-appearing models, check the date setting in Celesia. If it is before the "beginin...

Useful? resource for a STEREO Add-on
The STEREO website has put out a PDF of a paper model of the STEREO craft. It might be useful for textures or size reference for anyone making a STEREO add-on. You can find it at: http://stereo.jhuapl.edu/education/activities/pdfs/STEREOModel.pdf The planned orbit looks like a real challange to put ...

New problems with Spirit Mars Rover (satirical humor)
The parody paper "The Onion" just ran an article on the spirit rover misbehaving because it is tired of Mars!
It is very funny and can be found here:

Re: A few more IAU official names
I may be mistaken, but I think that the idea was to make having all of the moons an option. I agree that it is confusing. Perhaps it could be handled like stars.dat, where there would be one file such as moons.ssc and you would have different options as to which version of the file you wanted. I sup...

Question about number of objects and Celestia performance
I know that the more objects Celestia has to create orbits for, the slower Celestia will run. Is that in reference to the number of objects in one solar system, or the number of objects total? Does Celestia create orbits for all objects all of the time, or only for objects in the active solar system...

Re: New probes models from old models, for 1.5.0
You need to make a new folder (call it what ever you like) in extras. Place the models and texture folders into it. Now open the probes folder and select all of the contents (Should be a folder called data and a lot of .ssc files) and paste them into the new folder with the models and textures folde...
