Key mapping conflict in Celestia Explorer script
The scanner key mapping in Celestia Explorer is logical, but conflicts with the key mapping in Celestia. So if you are running Celestia Explorer you lose some of the Celestia functions. In my installation I made a quick and dirty workaround by simply remapping the Celestia Explorer functions to the ...

Re: Need a good font for a movie
Almost any plain font would work well, just avoid fonts that are very elaborate or very thin. Ariel is the most common font in that category, but there are many others. Just google "Free Fonts"
You might want to think about the look that you want such as Classic, Modern, or Sci-Fi/Futuristic.

Re: Thanks to All! Script and Manual Completed!
Please ignore my previous post, I figured the problem out (you must be closer to scan small objects)
I think that this adds to the realism, now that I understand it.
By the way, how is scanner range determind?
ps. I also resolved the select object issue

Re: Thanks to All! Script and Manual Completed!
The script is great, but I am having one problem with it. It does not seem to find add-on objects when I scan. What file does it use to "find" objects when you scan? Could that file be modified so that the add-on objects would be "found". It is hard when you are right next to a object but it will no...

You need to download the Word version. The links do not work in PDF.

Which Linux distribution works best with Celestia?
I know that this is like asking what the best flavor of ice cream is, but I would like to get some opinions. I am currenly using Win XP (see signature for my system) and want to try linux. I have just begun using Celestia 1.4.1 for windows so I am not really familiar with the program. I am intereste...

Re: Altering throttle controls in Celestia?
Can't help you with the throttle controls. What I do is watch the distance that I am from the object and as I get closer use the decelrate funtion. I still getting the hang of this and often overshoot or have a long approach. As for changes ruining your Celestia installation, what I have done it to ...

PNG Transperancy problems
I am attempting to make a new overlay for Celestia-ED. I have a PNG image that will appear on the screen when overlay is enabled, but there are no transparent areas.
How is the transparent area defined?
Is there a specific RGB value needed for a transparent area?[/img]

Re: What mods for educational activities by Frank Gregorio?
I tried using the Educational activities with a regular install of Celestia on Windows. No luck.
You might try a freeware windows emualtor (I think that there is one called "Wine"). It might work.

Re: What mods for educational activities by Frank Gregorio?
As I use Windows, I only know the URL for the Wndows version of the Sound and Overlay patch, and do not even know if there is a Linix version. I looked at preivious posts about it and do not see any metion of a linix version of the patch (looks like it was only coded for windows). My best suggestion...

Re: What mods for educational activities by Frank Gregorio?
Check previous post re: Celestia-Ed vs. Celestia + patch. Frank's response may have the information that you need. My read on his response is that you could use the regular celestia program but would lose some features like sound and overlay unless you could find the patch for the linx version of Ce...

Celestia-ED vs. Celestia 1.4.1 + patch
From what I have read, Celestia-ED contains all the functions included in the patch for Celestia (Overlay, Sound, etc.). Is there any real difference between the two installations? :? If so which installation is better? :? Or does it depend on the way you are using Celestia? :? I am currently using ...
