Re: Lines between stars or fictional planet systems
Hi. I'd love to see it, but it doesn't work for me. I'm using Celestia 1.6.2.2 for Windows/pc. proxima.cmod is in the models directory. There are 3 dsc files in the distribution in the Data directory. So, I put proxima.dsc into Data also. Although there is no 'extra' directory, there is an 'extras' ...

Jovian Moon Immersed in Jupiter's Shadow Always Glows at Wider Fields of View
Jupiter's moon Io, when going out of immersion from Jupiter's shadow, should wink on from darkness and does so at narrow fields of view. At expanded/realistic fields of view such that more of the moons of Jupiter are visible, then they all glow, even immersed Io. Is that a feature? Is it something I...

Re: Can you add sounds to Celestia?
In space... no one can hear you scream (or narrate or sing). Planets, moons and other objects are generally celestial bodies of few words. They speak softly and carry a big gravity field. Talk to Morgan Freeman. Only He can narrate things in and out of existence. Lol.

Re: Forum Search Limitations
Tried this in the address field in Chrome: http://www.google.com:celestia.space "draw lines" Google just treated the whole thing as a search string. I contacted onetwothree about the issue. I'll see how that goes. Search.png onetwothree responded with, "i have no idea. i don't know ho...

Script Debug Information
In reference to this thread:
viewtopic.php?f=2&t=21788
I'd like to propose the addition of script debug info reporting as part of Celestia, presumably as part of the '~' Debug Console.

Re: Forum Search Limitations
SevenSpheres, you appear to know your way around Celestia and these forums pretty well. Is your non-response as to the need for a "query as entered" and ONLY "query as entered" capability (non-incluse of "all query terms") an indication that you simply don't know if tha...

Script Debug Information
The failure to catch the typo was indeed my fault. However, that points to a deficiency (or room for improvement) not only in me but also in Celestia. Operating systems provide crash reports, debuggers report execution errors, and compilers report syntax errors for a reason. It would certainly be a ...

Updated/Fixed the CVG script
In: Motherload -> Resources -> Scripts -> Utility Scripts and Educational Resources I opened the CELX Visual Guide zip file and got errors when I tried to run Clive Pottinger's Celx_Visual_Guide_v1.132.1.celx All of those errors had to do with '\' characters. Not exactly sure why. I'm running Window...

Searching exact query and ONLY exact query
Is there any way to search for an exact query? "all terms" and "query as entered" in advanced search appear to be inseparable. That just brings back all terms in the query and is inclusive of the phrase entered (which might be somewhere in a potentially large pile), as far as I c...

I'm so embarassed I didn't catch that. And you've been so helpful and polite. I'll give you a bit of a rest now, SevenSpheres. How may I recommend you for an increase in Celestia rank?

Pardon. Didn't realize you were saying that you just reported it. Thought you were just referencing it. Me bad.

Re: Reinitializing Celestia to Its Factory Default State
This script used to land on Earth and then zoom in on Io quite nicely. Now it only brings up a black screen. Pressing '~' doesn't bring up any debug info. I'm stumped. observer = celestia:getobserver() EarthObject = celestia:find("Earth") observer:gotosurface(EarthObject) observer:gotolong...

Re: Forum Search Limitations
Yes, I see an option for search Titles and Text only. Thanks. But I still see no way to differentiate searching "all terms" and "query as entered". That just brings back all terms and is inclusive of the phrase entered, as far as I can tell. I've tried double quotes. Still can't.

Reinitializing Celestia to Its Factory Default State
Can anyone tell me the proper way to reinitialize Celestia to its factory/installation default state (preferably via script), short of uninstalling it from Windows and reinstalling it? I wrote a simple script and now for no reason that I can pin down, I cannot now get it to function as it did anymor...

Forum Search Limitations
Is there no way to search exact phrases of words under advanced searching? Or limit searches to titles or message texts? I'm finding the inability a severe limitation. Without those, I invariably find far too many hits to sift through. Maybe... talk to the Google people??

Re: Pandora Going Into Immersion 6 Seconds Before Arriving at Saturn's Ring Shadow
I see. Well, it just seemed to me that Celestia is an excellent product and very near being what, say, a NASA engineer might consider as a high precision tool, if youze guyz want to press on to that level of excellence. And thank you for your very informative and knowledgeable explanation. Regards. ...

I don't know if you want to consider the following a bug or just the limits of Celestia/Lua, but here is what I found:

tojulianday() discrepancies
Hi. I'm interested in repeating experiments such as the historic Romer calculations of the speed of light back in 1676. I'm also interested in researching the accuracy of the timing kept by those historical astronomers as compared to today's high precision timing and determining their timing errors ...

Error in the documentation regarding field of view and mouse dragging
There appears to be an error in the documentation regarding increasing/decreasing the field of view with the mouse: https://celestia.space/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=21755 The 4.2Mb and 8.0Mb versions of the User Guide. And (I think) somewhere I found a brief file listing the Celestia Controls to...
