Re: Alternative cloud shadows
Those shadows look too big... as if the clouds are very very high above the earth...

Re: NNNIIICCCEEE!!!
I found Celestia while searching for space simulators on Google. I also found Orbiter, though Celestia is more fun, somehow.

Wow, that is amazing! I love how subtle all the storms are. Great bump mapping too.

Re: Ross 128 System (1.1 update, 3rd post)
Thanks! I've done another planet, a ringed gas giant called Albino with a radius of 63000km. It has an earthlike moon called British Child Actors, with a radius of 4340km. I'm going to make more moons later. I'm not happy with the texture. It seems very blurry. I think my next attempt at a gas giant...

Ross 128 System (1.1 update, 3rd post)
I have a friend named Ross, so I decided to make a joke system about him :) The planets are Fernwood, Redwood, and Arrogant. Redwood has a moon called Honors Geometry. Fernwood is a planet much like mercury. However, one side is always facing Ross 128. Thus, one half is nearly completely molten, and...

Re: Post your Celestia pictures!
Post any pictures made with Celestia. I was surprised there wasn't already a pic thread for this beautiful space sim! That's probably because you can just say what addons you're using and then post a cel:// URL link to send people there 'in person' in Celestia... Saves on the bandwidth too :). True...

Old Pictures from Celestia (locked)
Post any pictures made with Celestia. I was surprised there wasn't already a pic thread for this beautiful space sim! Editing is allowed :) Also, if you're using addons or mods for the picture, you should tell us what it is. This is from the Zeta Reticulis system. A planet called Cylliat. Definately...

Re: Slowdown with different kinds of textures?
You can also convert .jpg and .png textures to .DDS with Photoshop. Nvidia makes some very good plugins for this, you can find them with a quick google search of "nvidia photoshop plugins". The same plugin will also generate normal maps from an RGB image (based on height) This is not the right way t...

I use 3dsmax. Great program, very powerful and easy to use. Also, exports the best .3ds files for an obvious reason :p
