Re: There and back again...

>>DDS textures have a lot of advantages . . . They require 1/8th the texture memory of normal RGB textures, and load a lot faster than JPEGs. On-the-fly conversion to DXT1 format is time consuming! Even with virtual textures, it's very important to keep texture memory usage to a minimum.<< I suppose...

Re: Multiple Cloud Layers

I just got done talking briefly about changing "cloud layers" into a more generalized layering system with various composition/masking options. This would be a very welcome addition indeed.

Right click on Earth, select "the polar ice cap layer mask" and tada!

Re: c is the limit!

Hi, I downloaded celestia quite a few months ago, but only seriously into it for the past few days. Re: A few suggestions.

First, I'd like to mention another idea...perhaps impractical or beyond the scope of the probject, but I wanted to mention it anyway. This is sort of an extension of the external application control, but it addresses the idea of manipulating Celestia in various ways using a message passing protocol....

A few suggestions.

Yesterday, I had the fortunate of stumbling upon Celestia while looking for a good skychart/planisphere. After having played with it for a bit, I'd like to offer a few suggestions (I'm sure most of them have been asked countless times already): 1) How about making it a bit more friendly for use as a...
