Re: Would the moon look like this if it was real?
@LordFerret: nice, but actually not what i am looking for. @julesstoop: based on the first picture, this is what i get: Industrial_Revolution_-_I_HDR_mod.jpg but comparing the whole picture to mine, i think mine is darker, so we can assume that the shutter speed is shorter, allowing a darker moon wi...

Re: Would the moon look like this if it was real?
How about giving the location (lat/long) of this image, and then using Celestia to place the moon into position? You could then match the FOV to the lens used, and you'd have stars in the image as well. :?: when looking up the moons' position in celestia at the time and location the picture was tak...

v2.1:
- rotated moon 40° clockwise
- reduced yelowish/orangy hue from 20% to 15%
- larger halo

Re: Would the moon look like this if it was real?
ok, here is the 2nd version of the picture.
- it now fits exactly 14 times horizontally
- brighter than first one
- has a yellowish/orangy hue
looks still too artificial to me. maybe the halo could be brighter/larger, and the color more desaturated?

Re: Would the moon look like this if it was real?
ok, i understand.
- so, if i took this picture with a 55-250mm zoom lens set to 135mm (what is 216mm on a 35mm camera), the moon should be larger?
- the phase of the moon should be near to full moon?
- and brighter of course!

Would the moon look like this if it was real?
i shot this picture of a chemical plant this week: Industrial_Revolution_-_I_HDR.jpg since there was no moon shining in this night, i added one with the help of photoshop. now i wonder if it looks realistic, i mean... - the dimension compared to the moons level over the horizon - the color - the bri...

Re: Where is VY Canis Majoris?
What do you mean? Of course, VY CMa is in Celestia. But stars can have MANY different names. Celestia uses the HIPARCOS catalog (as you might know). Hence you must search for the HIP equivalent of VY CMa, which is HIP 35793 (didn't you know this by heart? ;-) ) or it's HD number HD 58061 or it's SA...

Where is VY Canis Majoris?
can't find this star in celestia, but it is the biggest known star in our galaxy with probably 2100 solar radii. will it be added some day? http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/f/fe/Sun_and_VY_Canis_Majoris.svg/800px-Sun_and_VY_Canis_Majoris.svg.png here is a link to the wikipedia art...

Re: Does Celestia have game potenial
Otherwise, does there exist an open source game engine with which Celestia could be coded with?
For example, the Quake 3 engine source code is public, why not build Celestia with it?

Re: Planetary Nebulae for Celestia v1.3
Hey Calculus,
why is your M31 colored and mine not? Is this because of your own mesh file, or do i have a too old graphics card (TNT1)?
