Do not forget Seldens List of Resources, it's a wealth of information.

Re: Crashes with sound patch

What I've found out so far on this issue is that the audio patch is not compatible with Windows 7 x86 Enterprise which includes Service Pack 1. Celestia crashes at the moment the cel scripts are initialised and/or loaded into memory during the start-up phase. This has been shown by the results of a ...

Crashes with sound patch

With resolving the linking error of the audio patch Celestia can be build properly, however the executable crashes all the time. Celestia is build with VC++ 2008 express edition on a windows 7 x86 enterprise machine. It for sure that it is related with the audio support patch. I comment out all code...

Linking Error with sound patch

To fix a sorting problem with Celestia QT, I've dumped the latest release from the repository of the 20th of March 2017(SHA-1: 37ed932d37efe5c4d4d6650cf8ed37ad6a251122; (I've no idea what this number means, f.ck Github)). This is the release with Audio support. Before start debugging of the Qt versi...

Re: Ghost object 'eats' the name of the planet

I've noticed the same phenomena. The "ghost" is covering the label differently when the you move the object in the right part of the screen in vertical direction. When moving the solar object to the right it seems that the ghost becomes larger. However if you enlarge the object with the mo...

Re: Celestia 1.7.0 Development will begin soon

One of the remarks of Github vs SVN found on internet: Git is officially described as a stupid content tracker and it doesn’t care too much about keeping the precise history of changes in your repositories. Such features as implicit file rename tracking and ‘git rebase’ command make it hard to find...

Re: Celestia 1.7.0 Development will begin soon

Ok, thanks Alexell. I'll use Github as the reference.

Alexell wrote: If programmers join us, then the work go faster, and maybe we can make a release in late 2017.
I agree with that and where possible, I'd like to help. However, it will be for a x86 windows system only.

Re: Celestia 1.7.0 Development will begin soon

Maybe a shortcoming of Github to ignore the original file date and time stamps. Any descant program will ask you to keep those. It might be important forany kind of reasons or purposes. If we have to rely on Alexell site without all historical facts and information than problems may cause problems w...

Re: Bug with celestia builds from svn and github

I still wait on an answer or explanation to the different behaviour of the executable of celestia-win32-1.6.1 package and the ones I've build myself with VC++ 2008/2010 express editions. Especially the question about the way the executable of celestia-win32-1.6.1 package is build and with what? So, ...

File date and time stamps Github repository

Hi folks, Since Celestia has come back to life, I try to catch up with the latest developments. To start with an easy part: the tools. As things are not working I'll a check on the included files to see if they have been changed since my last working builds(VS 6.0 or VC 2003). I'm used to do that wi...

Re: Bug with celestia builds from svn and github

To Janus, JVV and Fenerit, Well Janus, it is a good story. It shine's another light on AV issues. All the AV programs around the world are designed for one thing only: keep the cybercriminals far away from your computer. Those guys using all possible ways to get to the kernel of your computer. That ...

Re: Bug with celestia builds from svn and github

John, That's what I mean: the default browser is the one what has been set in Windows and what will be opened by Celestia at the moment that you want to go to the Nine Planets to grasp information. It might be true what the developers of Google and Mozilla are saying about windows defender, but I us...

Re: Bug with celestia builds from svn and github

Selden, If I start up the default internet browser before Celestia, than there no problem at all. But when Celestia has to start up the browser from within the program then it would be seen by Bullguard as an suspicious program. If I do not reply to Bullguard that it is a false positive, it will clo...

Re: Bug with celestia builds from svn and github

Alexell,

So the size difference is explainable for Github Celestia. But not that Celestia builds from both the Github and the SVN sources will crash while Celestia.exe from the celestia-win32-1.6.1 package is not.

Re: Bug with celestia builds from svn and github

Alexell, Thanks for your reply. The size of the release builds of SVN Celestia rev 5229 is 2.997 Kb. The Github revision 5233 is 3.391Kb in size. Both build in release mode with VC++ 2008. Celestia.exe of the celestia-win32-1.6.1 package is only 2.778Kb in size. So large differences. Maybe something...

Bug with celestia builds from svn and github

Since recently the activities around Celestia is growing, I'm also want to catch up with that. So, I'm busy to setup my Celestia Developing environment again. My latest build was a while ago. Version 1.6.1. rev 5229. I rebuild that one to see of the VC++ 2008 is still working. Also I've build the Gi...

Re: Celestia 1.7, 2.0 and celestia.Sci...?

John, Thanks for your tip, and indeed I downloaded all the stuff from sourceforge SVN tree. 1,25Gb of data. That's mostly for use as reference only of the historical facts. Uploading this (again) to Github might be confusing for other users. Alexell is the moderator of the 'official' repository what...

SVN R5229 compared with github master

To Janus, Thanks for your effort of comparing those files. I'll try to do the same trick in order to setup my environment properly. As what is announced the SF Celestia SVN is obsolete. So I do not expect any further changes/updates for that site. So I'll concentrate on the Github stuff. HB or Nippe...

Alexell, Thanks very much for recovering my old account. I've tried to change the credentials of that account but without any luck. First: according the profile editor, the old username is too short. But that's something created in the past. Maybe no problem for the old members. Second: the email ad...
