Oh my. Yes. Absolutely beautiful.
Just one quick question Don, how did you calculate the amount of water needed for these ocean levels? And where is it coming from? Not that this has to be "hard science fiction". I love imagination too!
Just curious!
Great work!

Volcanoes are Indented...
I have only one problem with this Mars texture. When looking at Olympus Mons and the three "minor" volcanoes to the SE of it, I see a major problem with shading. Even though the sun appears to be coming from the lower right of the shot, these objects almost appear to be lit from the top left. The sl...

Me thinks...
Me thinks it looks wonderful.
I rather like the oceans as is. But, I would love to see what you have in mind too.
Assuming this is "terraformed", does this assume a human presence, and will you be modelling that as well? In the form of nightside textures or otherwise?

Thanks!
:D Thanks for the input. I will do my best to search all of my documents and posts before asking anything here again. But I thought that forums were designed for people to be able to ask questions without having to do several hours of research for them first. I don't mind reading everything. Two or ...

medres, highres, lowres
How does Celestia choose to switch between high, med, and lores files for a planet/moon? I am having a speed problem with my Celestia. I have downloaded the "portrait of the Sun 100+ MB file" and several 4k to 8k PNG textures for Earth. Whenever I look at my modded Moon now, and the earth or Sun pas...

PNG vs DDS vs VT
Anyone care to give me a one or two sentence practical advantage/disadvantage comparison of the following formats when used in Celestia? I have lots of experience w PhotoShop and am comfortable using and editing PNG and JPG files for use in Celestia. But the big picture advantages and disadvantages ...

Thanks!
And what about DDS maps?
Same thing?

I have successfully modded and installed several alternate textures for my solar system bodies, including night and cloud textures (yes, I did the highly unrecommended modification of my solarsys data file...but I am trying to teach myself how that file works...and I am not going to invest heavily i...

Satellites stay brightly lit when passing through shadows...
I don't really understand why small moons and asteroids (and man made objects) would stay brightly lit and be visible from thousands of miles away when passing through the shadow of a planet. This happens all of the time I think. Am I crazy? Or does anyone else see this as a problem? Seems the rende...

Night Textures for Asteroids...
I have successfully night textured the moon by modifying the solarsys data file and providing the image file edited in PhotoShop. However, after I put several small asteroids (moons...phobos and deimos) in orbit around it and wanted to night texture them using the same methods used on the moon, I ga...
