Re: Transit Collection
I was able to reproduce the Moon Occulting the Pleiades. I saw the time and date in Calculus' gallery. But there's no way I could make the background stars look the same! 1972 Moon Occults the Pleiades cel://PhaseLock/Sol:Earth/Pleiades/1972-03-20T03:14:35.22474?x=wHe9il/wMe2tDA&y=sdMHq5VF/P///////...

Re: Transit Collection
You may have a look in my gallery to see some transits and other celestial phenomena Dear Calculus, I visited and enjoyed you Gallery some time ago, but not after the "new entry" of cel URLs in Celestia. So here my question: any chance to have the cel URLs of your eclipses, conjunctions etc....

Re: Transits of Mars
I wonder when the last Mars-Jupiter Transit was... Or for that matter, when the next transit of Earth across the Sun is as seen from Mars. It's a pity that the Eclipse finder can't figure these things out. :( Actually, if I recall well what Chris told me, the way the eclipse finder is developped, i...

Look at this shot I made 2 years ago with Celestia http://www.shatters.net/gallery/view_photo.php?set_albumName=Calculus&id=Transit_Venus_Sun_2004_string I'll see the transit through a professional solargraph. The sun projection will be over 2 meters diameter! Have a nice 8th of June.

Re: Triple Shadow transit on Jupiter
may be the POV was not located on earth The 2 successive shadows on Io are independant of POV. I was just interested in knowing if this event was true? Checking it with SNP4 shows the event at 05:34 UT, and Io passing just outside the Callisto penumbra. => 0 shadow on it! Nothing said about shadows...

@ Calculus :
In present Celestia version, I couldn't see the 2 successive shadows on Io. What's the real thing?
I made it a while ago, maybe Chris changed the custom orbits.
Or may be the POV was not located on earth. I can't remember
Sorry

Re: Triple Shadow transit on Jupiter
There is a special shot with 3 shadows on jupiter Thxs, Calculus. Very interesting! Is there a case with 3 shadows on the planet and 2 shadows on satellites? Btw, I've done more little changes on the video. I intend in a next version to brighten galilean satellites albedo to get more realism. Very ...

Wow, hello again Calculus , long time no post. great to see you back, i really miss your Phenomenon posts. Hi Darkmiss and thanks. I've been very busy lately. I'm still thinking of posting new Celestial Phenomena. But don't know when. I do read the Celestia Forum from time to time. There are a lot ...

Yes, all were taken with my Newtonian, I haven't got any other telescope, at least for now :P I've created this comparison image of my photograph and Celestia, take a look!: http://www.la-guarida.com/Celestia/Image/Praesepe%20-%20Jupiter%20Comparison.jpg I can see on your picture that the galilean ...

Re: Eclipses in Mars
I don't think it is possible, Deimos is too small. It is rather called a transit.
However Deimos can be eclipsed by Mars shadow.

Re: Lagrange Points
For each satellite (moon), there are 5 Lagrange points. It is where the gravity forces between the planet and the satellite (moon) balances. Some are stable, some are not.
