Re: For collectors only: Mars Dust Storm

I've asked via e-mail but I didn't get a response. I'm gonna make a new one... Regards Michael Michael, I'm so sorry for not responding in time. It's been a very long time since I last connected to the forum but I come sometimes to keep an eye on news. Great addon! I don't know if you used my textu...

Re: Just a test - 64K Moon

No,I download the other file, but something is not right. The file is in .bin format. So,when I unzip,I get a VIDEO file and not a picture file. What can I do? danielj Did you download the 64k bin input file then? It's located right here -> http://www.celestialmatters.org/users/t00fri/files/Clementine...

Re: Nvidia or ATI?

Sorry to disrupt in this topic but I'm one of the users on the dark side; I'm using an ATI card and everything works perfectly, I'm not lacking any of the "eye candy" features of Celestia. I'm using a quite old PC (P4 1.5Gib RAM). Here are some shots using latest 1.6RC and FPS always vary ...

Re: Just a test - 64K Moon

praesepe, FYI, there's now a later version of the GDAL windows executable than the one you directly linked to. Perhaps for future readers of this thread, you might be better to provide this link instead of a direct line to the .EXE Cheers CC CC, Thanks for pointing to the right link, I've corrected...

Re: Just a Test -- 16k Colored Moon

Fridger, Ok, looking at the images you posted I can still see some artifacts. I had also a fast look at the .cub files at http://ser.sese.asu.edu/MOON/clem_color.html , all bands have them but at different locations, so I think that your results are more than reasonable according to the original dat...

Re: Just a Test -- 16k Colored Moon

hey! You've cloned my previous post! Obviously I'm just joking  I'd say this is more than "just a test" the texture looks awesome even it's "only" a 16K one... This is definatively the best Moon texture so far. Maybe a low resolution version (1k, 2k) should replace the actua...

Re: Just a test - 64K Moon

praesepe, Thanks for the links. I managed to build my own Clementine VT for the Moon in about one hour and a half (download time included). :) I just had to fix the following typo in your batch file (line 11), though: Change tx2half 1 32768 < level4\32k.bin > level3\16.bin into tx2half 1 32768 < le...

Re: Just a test - 64K Moon

I could not agree more with Fridger. I wouldn't mind uploading this VT somewhere and share it with all of you as I always done with all my little contributions but It would take several hours to do as the whole thing weights around 1.1GB. Also, I don't have anywhere to store it as my personal space ...

Re: Just a test - 64K Moon

]Thanks all for your kind comments :) Ok, I've done a second try and these are the results. As you can see I couldn't resist and made some work on the source data, applying some color to the original grayscale map and filling the missing areas with some data of different resolution which is far from...

Re: Just a test - 64K Moon

Glad to see you again Doctor! As I said, your F-TexTools worked like a charm for me altough I used an old release (1.0pre4). I didn't know the existence of newer versions so I'm going to download 2.0 and have another try since producing tiles in DXT format would avoid VT's growing so much in size. T...

Just a test - 64K Moon

Hi everyone, I've been out of Celestia board for some years (yep, a loooong break) and in my return I discovered that texture resolutions have improved so much I could ever imagine. Looking and searching for the forums lead me to find the magnificient F-textools and decided to give it a go and try w...

Re: help installing textures: ubuntu

praesepe, They want you to provide an e'mail address where you can be contacted, not an email address associated with ibiblio. (The ftp program doesn't actually care what you provide as a password when you're using anonymous ftp.) p.s. To put it another way, if you're having problems uploading a fi...

Re: help installing textures: ubuntu

Ok, I'm on me home system now and I'm trying to upload the updated package to the Motherlode but I'm having issues with the FTP login, since I haven't got any associated e-mail there I can't login into ibiblio's FTP... Bob, do you know who I need to contact to solve this issue?

Thanks in advance

Re: help installing textures: ubuntu

Hi Bob! long time no see... Well, I've done the proper changes to the file and tested it in both Celestia 1.5.1 and 1.6.0 rc1 for Windows and Linux and it works. I will be uploading it next week since I'm not on my home system now. I've got a question regarding the old file on the Motherlode, will i...

Re: help installing textures: ubuntu

Wow, I've been disconnected from Celestia since ages, but I'm really glad my textures are still being used! I see that things have changed a lot since then, and didn't know the rules where enforced... I would add the configuration file by myself but for now I don't have access to my personal page on...

Re: How to install the Moon 16K VT

Hi Siggi, Well you can do as selden says, or try renaming solarsys.ssc entry for moon texture definition from: "Moon" "Sol/Earth" { Texture "moon.*" } to: "Moon" "Sol/Earth" { Texture "moon16kvt.ctx" } This will force Ce...

Re: Thread Renamed - New Mars Textures

As usual, an outstanding work! 8O The texture looks so soft and detailed and the same time, I'd specially love to see a 16k normalmap in action, since the last time I tried I couldn't get good results... Now that I am getting some free time (holydays at last!) I am going to have some spare time for ...

Re: Red Moon

Ummm.. :?

If I'm not wrong, there was a little hack (modified source code) of an old version of Celestia that rendered eclipse shadows in red colour, wich was great for Moon eclipses but a totally unrealistic when on other planet/moons eclipses...
