Catalog of ultra-cool (AKA brown) dwarfs
Update time! Back in April, I posted a new version on the Discord server, and over the last month, I've been further working on adding data from other sources, so that the catalog is no longer too out-of-tune with recent results. This includes data from Gaia DR3 (1399 objects get new parallaxes, 69 ...

Catalog of ultra-cool (AKA brown) dwarfs
Back in 2019, SevenSpheres released a catalog of brown dwarfs (last updated in 2020), generated from the compilation by Wm. Robert Johnston . However, that source hasn't been updated since 2015, so one that was more up-to-date was in order. That's where the UltracoolSheet comes in. Being from 2020, ...

Re: spice2xyzv.exe error: "SPK type 21 unsupported"
Whoops, I forgot I already had this file... Shouldn't be much of an issue to create that path and put just naif0012.tls there.

Re: spice2xyzv.exe error: "SPK type 21 unsupported"
I can indeed reproduce this error using the files you provided (which is news for me since I've never used .bsp files from Horizons before). One solution might be to use a newer version of spice2xyzv. There's an archived copy of the Bintray files which were once used to distribute Celestia builds an...

Re: spice2xyzv.exe error: "SPK type 21 unsupported"
The tool's readme can be found along its source code on Celestia's GitHub repository. There's also some example config files, and a leap second kernel to be put within the same directory as the binary.

Re: Project Sisyphus - Texturing/painting every exoplanet known
Gliese 777 Gliese 777 , also known as HD 190360 , is a binary system consisting of a G-type (yellow) subgiant and an M (red) dwarf, located 52 light-years away in the constellation of Cygnus. Two planets have been confirmed around the primary star: b is remarkable for being one of the most Jupiter-...

Re: Extrasolar, Stars and Exoplanets for Celestia
With NGC 3132 (Eight-Burst/Southern Ring Nebula) being one of JWST's first targets, it deserves an update in Celestia. Model and texture can be taken from jll 's add-on . Since the Celestial Matters forums has been down for quite a while, I'm uploading here the latest versions of Fridger's texture tools (2.0pre2). No changes have been made to the original files.

Re: Asteroid Shape model collection
The source of the Hektor shape model is https://arxiv.org/abs/1402.7336 Now for some other shape models, another website from which they can be obtained is the "Interactive service for asteroid models" (ISAM). While most of these come from the DAMIT database (which is licensed as CC BY 4.0...

Re: Spacecrafts for Celestia
The normal maps (which are included with many of the source models used to make the addons on this thread) can be used successfully in Celestia, as long as the model has its tangents generated. For that, there is a need to have texture coordinates set up, but since cmodview tries to generate the tan...

Re: Asteroid Shape model collection
Shape models are sometimes hard to come by. I'll start by posting a few links here, and hope to add more over time. While these sources are also used by the 3D Asteroid Catalogue, I'm listing them for completeness: -Database of Asteroid Models from Inversion Techniques (DAMIT): https://astro.troja.m...

LukeCEL once contacted Marina Brozović, the main author of the 2018 study where the updated Apophis shape models were presented. She sent one of those models, which Luke then uploaded to the Discord server. I have attached the .obj file here.

As well as possible evidence for the binarity of the "active asteroid" 311P/PANSTARRS. Would be cool to see that rendered in Origin, by the way.

Re: Extrasolar, Stars and Exoplanets for Celestia
Greetings! Here is a small STC file for displaying the three fastest rotating brown dwarfs known, recently announced on a study by Tannock et al. They have rotation periods just above one hour and are visibly oblate, though not too much since BDs are very dense objects. This should be compatible wit...

Re: High res Ultima Thuli (Arrokoth) model?
The most recent Arrokoth shape model I know of is from Spencer et al. (2020) . The files themselves can be downloaded at this data archive (more specifically, shape_models.zip ) provided by the main author of that paper. Since Askaniy 's texture (which is used in both Origin and Echoes) was made fro...

Re: Spacecrafts for Celestia
Here is an add-on for SMART-1. 3D model (and textures) is from the ESA Science Satellite Fleet downloads page, and orbital parameters are from this page.
I already had the model lying around for some time, all that was left was writing the data for it.
