Re: How can I make Celestia show more stars?
Oh now I remember, from using the app on a PC.
But how do you do it in a smartphone app?

How can I make Celestia show more stars?
Compared to other Android astronomy apps like Sky Safari and Stellarium, the display of stars in Celestia seems rather sparse. As best I can tell, visibility stops at around magnitude 6.5, which seems rather limited when the simulated POV is supposed to be from space, free of atmospheric obstruction...

Re: Celestia 1.6.2 is out
I noticed that the display looks much better now. The issue I have complained about elsewhere concerning the lack of color differentiation seems to have been addressed. Very much appreciated! However, since logging on today I notice that the center function no longer works. You can choose an object ...

Re: Celestia 1.7.0 Development Thread
Is this still being developed?
I'm hoping that it will resolve some of the display issues I've noticed, namely "flattened" star colors and magnitudes. It could be my computer, but all the stars look to be about equally bright, and all plain white.

Do you mean ticking one or more additional boxes in the render options, or something else that the developers would have to build into the product?

Re: Stellar magnitude and color ranges seem "flattened".
Here's a more recent photo of the Pleiades, taken with with a faster 50mm lens at ~f/2.5, ISO 3200, 4" exposure. Again, the resulting original JPEG image was post-processed as described above to improve contrast and overall appearance. Link In this image you can find stars that go all the way d...

Stellar magnitude and color ranges seem "flattened".
It's possible that I'm mis-remembering how Celestia has looked in the past, and it's been a while since I last looked at it. But when I look at it now, the range of magnitudes seems to be "flattened", so that bright stars don't stand out as much as they do IRL. For instance, in the followi...
