Re: What Video Card Are You Using?

Still running the VisionTek Ti500 GeForce3 (64MB DDR). Maybe I'll hop on the FX when it comes out. Maybe. I haven't decided yet.

Re: Speaking of comets...

I was hoping to throw it in my solarsys.ssc file, but I'm not quite up to the task of figuring out what some of the critical values are. So far all I have is: Period 2380 # Original orbital period before # entering planetary system = 4206 years # Future orbital period after # exiting planetary syste...

Re: Comet tails don't show...

I almost forgot. Pre5 is a fix for users with Radeon cards. It works in conjunction with 1.2.5pre4.

If your're not using a Radeon card, just dl the pre4 .zip as you won't need the pre5 update.

Very nice. =)

Nothing like discovering (or, to be more precise, reporting the existence of) a sizable object on the fringe of our solar system and then, only a few hours later, already having a custom texture for it. Amazing!

Re: Comet tails don't show...

There is a beta of the next version release that has comet tails, ring shadows, and even an eclipse finder.

I'm not quite the master of all things Celestia that others

appear to be, but this one seems simple enough. First of all, throw the earthbump.jpg in the textures/medres folder. I assume you've actually already done this. Next you'll need to modify your solarsys.ssc file in order to tell Celestia to use your new bump map. Go to the data folder and open solars...
