Re: a few more suggested features
I have a few suggestions... For objects that are animated, like a fictional space station that has rotating parts or stretching parts, there should be an option that allows continuous mesh animation. Say that you make an animation with 6 meshes: Celestia could load all and display them in time incre...

Re: Transparency and Multiple Textures
Okay I have 3DS Max now. This is a lot tougher to learn than Bryce. Could you help me with something? I want to import an object with several textures and save it as an object with one texture. Could you help me out? :D I don't have much experience (none at all actually) in 3DS Max, but I don't want...

Re: Transparency and Multiple Textures
Well, I am back to having problems with multiple textures. I don't quite understand what you say about them in your first post (mainly because I don't have 3d studio). Is there no way otherwise to have multiple textures? Does Celestia read one and only one texture? Is there a way I can combine all m...

Re: Transparency and Multiple Textures
Now there is another problem...I think this has to do with Celestia itself.
I made an enormous nebula and even though the planets are clearly in the foreground, they appear to be behind the nebula. I am not quite sure why it does this...

Re: Transparency and Multiple Textures
I am using Bryce and exporting the objects as 3DS meshes. When I export I don't have the options you mentioned, but I did make the mesh (a single one) transparent, and I did make one with just one texture. But the areas on my mesh where there is total transparency, there is just total opaque black i...

Transparency and Multiple Textures
I was making 3DS meshes (of made-up asteroids/nebulae) and I was having a problem. None of my meshes were transparent as I made them, and as far as I know, I can only use one texture. Can I use 2 or more textures for one mesh object? And is there a way to make the objects as they appear in Celestia ...

Re: Planet Texture generators
Thanks...sorry I wasn't more specific. I didn't find any at all when I looked. I guess I wasn't looking hard enough. By looking through some of the forums here I was able to find some planet generators I liked. Unfortunately, my system isn't that great so I can't really immerse myself in Celestia li...

Planet Texture generators
What are some good programs to generate textures for planets? I have looked extensively and I have not found one that does what I want it to do.
I want planetary textures of all kinds (gas, moons, Earth-like), and each to be detailed and not choppy or small.

Re: Celestia Earth Question
Thanks for the info...yeah I will definitely get a new card when I have the money. And furthermore, my card is PCI. I have not yet deleted them, but it did occur to me to place a # before each one that i want to disable.

Re: Celestia Earth Question
Well, I have a 16 megabyte I/O Magic Card that has Nvidia Vanta LT as the driver. I am not exactly sure about the hardware and software OpenGL support, all I know is it supports OpenGL, and I don't have the manual on hand at the moment. I am still not quite sure what is causing it, but it may be the...

Celestia Earth Question
Hello! Yesterday I just put in a 16meg video card that I found (upgrading from 4 megs) and with it I found out that Celestia (1.2.4) is a lot easier to use. It isn't so choppy. Except for one thing. Earth is very choppy. The computer slows dramatically when I approach Earth. I changed the PNG file t...
