Re: Using a cel:url as a start.cel

Fridger, Go ahead, be positive! Why are you suddenly so cautious, so shy? It is obvious that everybody is impatient to see your new findings. You are since long the leader, and you have to take the leadership since as repeated many times Chris does not participate any more , (except perhaps virtuall...

Re: Google Earth !

Just to inform french (or french speaking) guys that half a page has been devoted to "Google earth" in the 25 AUG 05 issue of "Le Monde" a well recognized national french daily ( I don't want to enter in french - french debate about the "serious or intelectual newspapers !). Re: A primer for new C++ developer volunteers on Win XP

Hi Geogiouk and All, Remember, I had the same error messages as you got! Convinced that our problem was due to find the good library path , I tried several pathes and finally, at least in my case, with the imposing following path, Set LIB=C:\Program Files\Microsoft Platform SDK\Lib\IA64\mfc;%...

Re: A primer for new C++ developer volunteers on Win XP

Hi georgiouk and All, I had this problem long time ago, since I used it during years to compile Celestia with VC6. Looking through my old posts will tell you exactly when the new code could no longer be compiled with VC6. Several posts were dedicated to this problem, apparently without solution. My ...

Re: A primer for new C++ developer volunteers on Win XP

I successfully installed Tortoise CVS and got the sources of celestia. thanks again, I was surprised how much source files changed recently, at variance with what I expected from the forum information. I have to install Visual studio .net, I got the 2002 (4 CD), but my system (XP on a laptop) ask fo...

Re: A primer for new C++ developer volunteers on Win XP

Paolo, For various reasons, I completely lost the access to the cvs tree, that I used during years to update the celestia code. I recently reactivate my interest for celestia and would again try to compile under Windows XP environement. I used the write-up you kindly provided to us, and succeeds (I ...

Re: Celestia Motherlode forums

I have nothing against having the forum at any place. However, I used to store provisionally the posts of interest for me in the hard disk of my laptop at working time and then I can read more carefully at home. Unfortunately on my PC, MS Explorer refuses to store "The motherlode" posts while there ...

Sorry for this late answer. I am not presently at home and I do not look at the forum as frequently as it would be. I need to clarify some points. 1. I devoted at least one thread about this topic where I developped my view point in details, I don't remember when, but you should easily find these po...

Re: Red Moon

MB, Would you consider making a hack for pre5?? It would be really cool to see a red total Lunar eclipse. I will look if the code of Celestia has not changed too much concerning this peculiar aspect. This hack was 2 years old  Unfortunately I am not optimistic: 1: I cannot anymore compile und...

Re: Red Moon

I was the guy who make this long time ago.
However, Preasepe Don't say that it was not realistic with other moons since this reddish color was only applied to our moon exclusively. Nothing for the moons of the other planets.

Spacecraft trajectories in the planet reference frame.

I think that it would be interesting, at least for pedagogical point of view and specifically at present times with such titan flightby event, that an option allows to have the spacecraft trajectories drawn in the capturing body (planet) reference frame, begining , for example at the time of capture...

Grant,
I remember approximately, from my younger time, the mnemonics to memorize the star clessification:
O Be A Fine Girl, Kiss Me Right Now Sweetheart
Is such classification been slightly modified?
