Re: My attempt to code celestia...

Well it looks like I finally got somewhere...Thing is would my edits be submissable or would I simply just release the exe with my addons?? I think I might do the latter...unfortunately this means all other platforms would have to just settle without the extras... You may as well do both....If you ...

Re: new Eracle System addon

I encourage constructive criticism, in which you gave me. And I'll put it to good use. And if it werent due to my "celestial range" as you put it, i'd probably implement some of the things you suggested sooner :)

Re: new Eracle System addon

After visiting your system, I can say I like the first planet (very darky, I love !) and a few others. But I think is quite repetitive, with a lot of identical planets. For my taste, there is too much planets... You could change the folder structure, getting rid of the data's folder (the system's n...

Re: new Eracle System addon

Nice work, I've got a question for shot #2. In the upper middle section, is that liquid? To me it looks like some sort of lava :? I'm not saying it looks bad, It looks cool, just a little wierd for my taste. That one's best not to think about, just enjoy Psykotik....Yes, how ebarassing, I got the u...

Re: Compiling error - Linux Newbee needs some serious help

look on the suse website, or kde.org for a qt rpm to download, you may also need kdelibs, and kdebase...There are some suse rpm's of celestia available for download aswell I believe, yast2 should be able to detect the dependencies and get them for you.. If you need any linux specific help I might re...

new Eracle System addon

I've created a new fictional addon, available for download here As stated, it's a fictional addon inspired by events in my life that have took place sence I started on it some 4 months ago. This is my second addon. As some of you may remember, some time ago I released an addon called "angelic domain...

Re: undefined reference to main when compiling with gtk+

glib is not part of the gnome library set, it's a dependency of gtk, so in order to run gnome ( which is gtk based obviously) you need it

The devs that make gtk are the ones that make glib

Re: undefined reference to main when compiling with gtk+

you do not need gnome to use gimp atall, the only thing they have in common is gtk. I do not have the gnome 1.4 libraries installed.

as for the devel packages, I compiled gtk-1.2 from source, so it should have all of them

Re: undefined reference to main when compiling with gtk+

Still, even if I dont have gnome1.4 installed I should still be able to utilize gtk1.2, which I can, and do (with gimp, though now i'm using the dev. version which has gkt2 support...xmms also makes use of gtk1.2)...Unfourtunetly I dont know how to program in either c++ or gtk...Otherwise i would gl...

Re: undefined reference to main when compiling with gtk+

Qt is ugly plain and simple...Mosfet may have worked some wonders, but it's still a slow, resource pig. Both Qt and GTK being fully themable I really don't understand that reasoning about the 'look' of the toolkit. The perceived speed is another point, I personaly don't find a big difference in spe...

Re: undefined reference to main when compiling with gtk+

Qt is ugly plain and simple...Mosfet may have worked some wonders, but it's still a slow, resource pig. when you start up an app with qt, it starts up a background app callled 'kdeinit' which takes up its fair bit of ram I dont have gnome1.4 installed, I upgraded to 2.2.2, which explains it indeed

undefined reference to main when compiling with gtk+

Hi, I've been able to succesfully compile celestia using qt....However personally I find qt rather repulsive, and slow, opposed to gtk. However, When I compile it for qt using ./configure --with-gtk , I get an error about gnomeConf.sh. When I configure it with ./configure --with-gtk --gtk-prefix=/us...

Re: nvidia cards

It of course depends on how much you are willing to spend. You can get an NVidia GeForce4 Ti4200 with 128mb of DDR VRAM on the lower side or you can go hog wild and buy a GeForce FX 5800 with 128mb of DDR VRAM. I don't think anyone in the forum as of yet has purchased a GeForce FX card of any level...

Re: Hacked again!

rassilon: was kindof a typo.. actually wanted to say that debian is by far better fit to be on a server than redhat in my opinion ... BTW: apt-get exists also for redhat ;) Not exactly, alot of servers use RH for their os, then again they tend to use RH advanced server, which goes for about $700......
